YoungRippa59 to be honest my dude I think it’s because since Sony still wants to do Spider-Man stuff in the future and with Tom Holland’s contract ending after two movies (third solo movie, and a team movie) I think they will reboot again and then do things closer to the source material cause in all honesty I really didn’t want Spider-Man in the movies I wanted a Netflix series but now that he’s in the films they are changing things for film and changing races and character portrayals for a normie audience. And I get it movies like these aren’t just made for me and other comic book fans they are made for a large majority of people those who know Spider-Man by name, like superheroes movies and etc. honestly they could have adapted the source material better if they wanted it to be close to the time period that these movies take place in. Like adapt the ultimate comics line at least ya know (which I thought they were going to do) but yeah while I like some things of these mcu Spider-Man movies I feel like it strayed itself too much from the source material just to be connected to the mcu (also typing this on a phone which sucks lol) I feel if Sony does go and make their own live action Spider-Man series again they should keep it self contained if you want to reference or Easter egg other characters from marvel comics go ahead but don’t make the main big thing like the mcu Spider-Man films where we have to constantly be reminded that it is in the mcu

Hey, man. I'd like to hear a more broken down reasoning, or maybe a list of the parts you feel aren't accurate. I'm not an MCU Stan, nor am I necessarily disagreeing with you, I just don't know that I fully understand. Is it the race changes in the solo movies? Personality traits (I feel like personality is the closest part, but I'm half-normie on Spidey) maybe? I get the Tony interactions/influence in place of the uncle Ben stuff are part of your beef, but some extra details would be cool. Thanks, bro!

People just don't seem to understand that it was Uncle Ben's death that really was the catalyst for Spidey to be the hero so many people know and love. Tony Stark wasn't needed to make him, it was Peter's own genius that made him.

In fairness, Peter had become Spider-Man before Tony Stark got there to give him an upgrade. I feel like it was skipping over the origin story that made it look like Stark is the uncle Ben. Having said, I don't think I'd have wanted to see the origin a third time...
@commandercorner5575
@commandercorner5575 4 жыл бұрын
Uncle Ben's death may have been the catalyst that compelled Peter to use his newfound gifts for heroics rather than selfish gain, but there were many, many more character defining moments that transformed him into the Spider-Man so many of you accuse MCU's webhead of not being. It's like none of you read the original comics, but jumped on the Spidey hype train after Raimi brought the character to a wider audience. After Ben died, Peter sought to become part of the Fantastic Four immediately. He was arrogant, naïve, and ultimately had to mature significantly before even other superheroes recognized him as a hero, much less an equal. To suggest the Peter in Homecoming doesn't undergo the exact same arc tells me that although you might be a fan of the current Spider-Man, you don't care about the path that brought him there. That said, Far From Home fails on the same reasons.
@dustinporter1948
@dustinporter1948 4 жыл бұрын
@@commandercorner5575 I was just stating that Uncle Ben should be more important than Stark. I thought that's what they were going to do with Spider's intro in Civil War and just Stark fill the role of the Fantastic 4. Just about every big story arc in the comics Parker has major character moments. I didn't mean that Uncle Ben's death had to be the sole focus or played out all over again, but replace his role with Tony Stark is kind of a spit in the face of the one constant in main universe comics and that's Uncle Ben is dead and not coming back.
@Nemesis0921
@Nemesis0921 4 жыл бұрын
That "uncle ben dying again" argument is so tired, I've heard it 100 times. Literally no one is asking to see Ben die again, but the fact that peter in the mcu barely acknowledges him is dumb, he's the whole reason peter does what he does.

I liked that we first meet Peter after his death but completely skipping on how it affected him and May was criminal. This is the man who raised him and taught him the lesson that defined him forever. He was the love of May's life. And they just treat him like he never existed. May should have had a much bigger and more emotionally driven role in these films. I don't mind that they decided to make her much younger than usual and I think Marisa was well cast but think of everything that could have been done with her character and how that would affect Peter. Coping with loss and moving on, figuring out how she's going to make ends meet, dealing with health issues, suddenly becoming very protective of Peter.

The snap and the timeskip following it were the perfect opportunities to pull the MCU Flash closer to his comic's counterpart. Picture Flash not getting dusted from the snap and having to survive through the following chaos. He becomes hardened, trying his best to help people because "that's what Spider-Man would have done", and ultimately losing a leg somewhere down the line. Picture Peter's reaction when he comes home to find all his friends as normal - except Flash, who is now five years older, bigger and muscular, missing a leg and in a wheelchair. An ever present reminder of the snap and the time lost. Then you could have a post credits scene where Flash attempts to enroll in the military, when he's approached by someone with a certain "proposition" for him.

Not one of his supporting cast is anything like anyone in the original story. We don’t need to rehash the origin story, but to take the same story and make Ben’s role about Tony Stark is kind of a slap. But most of all, Spider-Man was at his best when he was a hero who was trying to balance his normal life with his life as a hero and no one knew about it to support him. Now, he’s an Avenger, he’s got a best friend who knows all his secrets, and Happy is always pretty much a phone call away to support him.

I expect him to act like he just came out of an intergalactic war with Thanos, returning from death itself. Surely that should make even a teenager grow up some. Peter is trying to move on from what happened and go back to a normal life, a teenager's life, that's the whole point and his struggle during the whole movie, with S.H.I.E.L.D behid his back all the time, the elementals thing happening, Mysterio, dealing with Tony's death... He just want to be a normal teenager. There's nothing dumb about it. He's still just a damn kid. I get why people didn't want to see Uncle Ben's death a third time. But by omitting his death scene in the MCU version they eliminated the turning point in his origin. Uncle Ben's death is what shaped Peter Parker's career as Spider-Man. And to have Tony Stark as a surrogate Uncle Ben is just wrong. I love the MCU but Iron Man Jr. will never be my Spider-Man. Now there's a new generation of Spider-Man "fans" who think he's just an Iron Man sidekick of some sort. Iron Man is even plastered all over both of his supposed solo films.

Despite what you think of BvS, at the very least they got the proper Batman origin done and out of the way in the first few minutes of the movie. Could you imagine if Bruce's motivation was Wildcat from the JSA and not the trauma of watching his parents die for no reason? Even the ps4 version respected Uncle Ben and showed that his absence still affects Peter and May after nearly a decade. They even distanced Spider-Man from the Avengers completely, making Otto his hero and mentor and it worked a million times better than what the MCU has been doing.

There are many problems with MCU Spider-Man, and the one that I hate is how almost everything about him is revolved around Iron Man. His suits? Made by Tony. Sure, he makes his own suit but that's still with Stark tech. His villains? Didn't feel like they were Spider-Man's own villains. They were connected to Tony because he screwed them over in some way and Peter is caught in the middle having to clean up his mess. Uncle Ben? Practically non-existent and is replaced by Tony as his mentor/"father-figure". Also, I'm sick and tired of hearing the Stans saying that Peter's the next Iron Man when he's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE! He's supposed to be Spider-Man, his own hero. Not Iron Man. Especially when there are other characters in the MCU that can take the mantle.

One of the main points of Spider-Man is literally that he never had anyone teach him anything about being a hero. The MCU completely shredded and danced on the pieces of that concept the moment they made Tony Stark/Iron Man matter so much to Peter and have such a big impact on his life.

I, also, have long said that the MCU Spider-Man is really "Spider-Boy." Or "Iron Boy." So, I wholeheartedly agree with you. And I know Tom Holland Spider-Man is popular. Especially with the normies. But I do believe there are more us out there than is known that don't consider Tom Holland Spider-Man who Spider-Man REALLY is. -OG

@@RedBlurr Peter was very selfish through his entire high school experience, and didn’t necessarily fight crime because it was the right thing to do for about the first 3 years of being Spider-Man. It took him a bit to fully mature into the Spider-Man we know today…. kinda similar to how the MCU handled Spidey’s origin through character development over the course of a trilogy. Weird how nobody saw this and jump the gun lol

Totally feel you on this one bruh. It really struck a chord with me when you talked about how the things that were once for a niche group, have suddenly become Pop Culture. Which of course is fine, but like you, I've gotten into too many arguments about various genres because I have a wide knowledge base with regard to the history (being an old fan who did lots of research) and the only thing the "nu-fans" can reference is stuff the movies/TV have shown. Since I was young, I was always into the comic books, games and sci-fi genres. But since this big push over the last 20 years or so, and how all "geek" things are being forced to change to "fit in" with this neo-culturalism, I can't enjoy those things I once loved anymore, because it is NOT recognizable to me. Point in reference, in high school (mid-90s) I got bullied, beat up and made fun of because I was really into Star Wars, comic books and gaming. But now, because the MCU/DCU, Star Wars sequels and "nerd culture" are being over-popularized, I feel its a bit hypocritical that the same people who used to torment me about loving these things back in the day, are now "the biggest most die-hard fans". It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and really to see these characters/genres being transformed so completely from their source material that I just can't allow myself to share in the enjoyment. I mean that's just my take man. Keep up the good work with these videos and streams. You're shining a light that is surely needed in these times.

I like the MCU, but I feel that they don't need to make changes from the source material. There doesn't need to be race and gender swapping. Monica Rambeau doesn't grow up idolizing Carol Danvers and Spider-Man doesn't come up under Tony Stark.

"spider-man is for everybody" "comics are for everybody" - Except evidently comic fans who actually supported these characters all along, made them what they are and care about their characterisation. Making the characters accurate and appealing to a wider audience don't have to be mutually exclusive.

In the comics Peter made his webbing and web shooters himself. In the Tobey movies his webbing was organic and part of his powers. In the Andrew movies he made his web shooters but got the webbing from the Biocable Development unit at Oscorp. In Tom's movies he made the web shooters and webbing himself but got an upgrade from Stark.

Removing Uncle Ben from Spider-Man is the same as removing Batmans parents death from Batman. Uncle Ben is the key for Spider-Man to be a hero. They dont need to show the death, they could have shown a picture with a monologue, or a gravestone, or him crying in his room because of missing him. As Stan Lee said, Spider-Man is a hero that everyone can relate to. He has so many problems but wanting to be an avenger is not one of them. He is poor, never gets the girl, is bullied physically and verbally, is always trying to balance his life and not make Aunt May worry. The whole Ironman thing was thrown in for no reason. Why doesn Spider-Man need to be tutored by Ironman? Spider-Man is a better, more moral and fleshed out character. This new Ironboy jr is just a kiddy movie with bangs and flashes and new costumes just to sell toys.

I swear these idiots have never seen or played Spider-Man PS4. They never once showed Uncle Ben, or better yet made a character model for him. They merely mentioned him in a conversation with Aunt May. That’s what the MCU should have done. But completely ignoring him, therefore ignores the impact he had on Peter’s life.

How does mcu Spidey not act like Spider-Man? Because they gave him a new relationship? Everything deeper than that is Spidey. He's awkward with girls, he's goofy, and he struggles with the responsibility of being a superhero. Iron Man didn't "make" Spider-Man, he just gave him a new suit.

100% agree with your statements. I had the impression of Parker that he was a motivated man who got bad deals out of life. However, Parker arises above it all and is a pretty good character. Before 1997 he was one of the greats. His wife was a babe, he supported his widow aunt, he managed to pay for grad school, got an undergrad in chemistry, and worked a part time job as a photographer. Damn! He was good. Now it's just a hang on of Iron Man.
