Good job Thunder Bay, You voted in a city councilor who thinks the way to deal with the precariously housed is to plant shrubs that are prickly to prevent them from seeking shelter in a tent. Unbelievable!

Yes, that comment struck me as simplistic, short-sighted, and unempathetic. I mean, I am thinking of the good, privileged people from the luxury condos walking their dogs down there. Perhaps their precious, pampered pooches may not appreciate those prickly thistles!☹

Nowadays unsheltered street homeless are fentanyl addicts. They will destroy any housing we put them in because they are mentally not capable of living in organized manner. Fentanyl destroys humans mentally and physically beyond the point of repair very quickly. Where I live, street homeless break into unoccupied houses and building and destroy them by pulling wall wires out and cutting metal pipes just to sell for fentanyl. They smoke fentanyl all day long, so many times. They steal store items again for fentanyl. Police does not even respond to anything related to street homeless unless they spill blood first. They gradually destroy everything around themselves. Fentanyl pills they smoke contain: fentanyl, rat poison, horse tranquilizer, sedative benzo, may contain ISO drug, nitazene chemicals, and other nasty destructive synthetic chemicals. All street drugs including street marijuana are laced with fentanyl.

@@sarbantz So, if you want me to agree that drugs are bad, I will agree with that. However, you are making hasty, negative generalizations about homeless people, with which I will not agree. This is for the purpose of demonizing them. You seem to be suggesting that we shouldn't attempt to give them supports such as housing, because you feel they are undeserving. This is to put subjective opinions of deservedness, over objectively discernable need. I do not believe they destroy their housing, because they would prefer to live under a tarp. They are not getting the appropriate help to deal with their addiction, or to live on their own, if they ruin their housing. Now, this is just dealing with homeless who are drug addicts, which is not all homeless and not all drug addicts. Even if this did describe all the homeless, these are human beings who have basic human needs, suffering from the disease of addiction. They are not disposables.

@@sarbantz Nothing about homelessness and/or addicted/and or mentally ill makes me feel better--quite the contrary! However, they are human beings who have challenges and need help. Making generalizations for the purpose of stigmatizing them or writing them off in society, serves no one's best interests. Also, because homeless people you are aware of are addicts, does not mean all homeless people are addicts or drug users.
