Thank you for this series! Most helpful and informative. Question for you: do the autothrottles automatically disconnect when you disconnect the A/P? Also, do they need to be disconnected for landing or leave them engaged and just pull back the throttle at 20' - 30' above the runway?

Thanks! Autothrottle does need to be disconnected separately. When you disconnect a/p you will notice only half the box on the FMA changes. I think if you use the paddle disconnect switches right below the autopilot button it disconnects both, but that is not the preferred method of disconnect

I am a bit confused about the autopilot, if you leave it on during landing, when do you disconnect it or do you leave it on? Great series very helpful.

I typically disconnect autopilot around 1000ft, if you are doing a full ILS approach to minimums you would disconnect at minimums for the category ILS you are doing, if you are doing CATIII Autoland, you leave the autopilot on until after touchdown

One other thing concerning the auto throttle. Any helps about landings an d whe it should be disconnected would be appreciated.

Are there any known issues with capturing the glideslope? It works inconsistently for me.

I've heard reports of it being inconsistent, however I have not experienced any issues myself. Make sure you capture the LOC first as most aircraft won't capture the glide if you are not already in LOC CAP.

@@moosestaffa83 Yeap, the aircraft is in LOC and glideslope showing and moving, but the aircraft doesn't descend as expected. It happens on 1/2 of my flights, even in the same airport/runway. Thanks,

How can I keep Betty quiet? lol Im doing something wrong. auto pilot keeps disconnecting. GREAT VIDEO SERIES!

Unfortunately, you can't mute Betty. It's part of the experience. If autopilot keeps disconnecting, it may be due to noisy controls, and the autopilot thinks you are overriding it with control inputs. There is a menu option in the efb to turn off control input override. Try disabling that.

Hi, your content is really nice for the ones we're getting into this legendary airplane! Today I started the fs today and the parking break is not working. I'm pressing the command I assigned to for all the planes for it and it doesn't release. Even tried it with other airplanes and it did work normal, but not with the MD11. Do you have any idea what might be happening? Thank you in advance

An update in the last month or so changed the parking brake logic to be more realistic. You have to hold the toe brakes while engaging the parking brake. This is not a problem if you have hardware assigned to the parking brake but there was a bug trying to use the keyboard brake command and trying to pull the brake with the mouse. Don't know if that bug has been fixed yet. Either way, you can change the brake behavior back to simple in the EFB and it should function like before.
