Had a stubborn gobbler on opening day, came home and watched this video, went out the next day and harvested my first bird. Your videos a definitely a major asset.

Man I’m dealing with one right now. Saw him walk near my spot when I left to take a break came back heard 1 gobble and had to leave (12pm hunting cutoff).

I have been doing that for years. I call it talking to him. I was taught by dad to soft call and set still. I feel the setup very important. I am 80 now and time has passed me by. Younger hunters watch the videos that sell products and they are smarter than me. I just laugh inside. I enjoy watching real stuff. I enjoyed your video.

Absolutely! I am 32 and the first thing I was taught was when birds arent gobbling.. find a spot, sit quiet and call every 15 minutes. I have had loads of toms come in completely silent. When a bird is hung up I stop calling completely and it may be 20 minutes.. but he will hit again without any call. I call that a panic call. In his mind he thinks he is or has lost that hen. Thats when I am working the bird and not the bird working me. :) Turkey hunting is a tradition that hasnt changed, but boy do I learn something new every spring. Ive been hunting them or going out with my dad since I was 7 years old and I still have loads to learn lol

My biggest tom to date was from putting this very tip from Dale to practice. My 3rd time out trying to get this same savvy bird that lived on a neighbor's property all henned up, but I remembered to try this reverse psychology idea. Well, among all my previous hunts and 23 birds successfully taken, this was the 1st time I felt like I was truly "reading and feeling" a tom out and controlling the conversation and ably manipulating him. As soon as his hens went to lay late morn, he and I got to talking (as we'd done before), but then I "flipped the conversation" playing hard to get and he couldn't stand it. Well his pride cost him! Thanks Dale! I'm giving you the credit!

Hi I just want to let you know. I used your advice today from this video . Today May 1 2018 in NY. The hole process took about an hour and I got my first long beard. It was really awesome. I haven't really done a lot of turkey hunting. When the bird started to gobble he was a couple hundred yards away I guess. I keep thinking of this video and followed your advice worked great. Thanks for all the great videos

Good advice. I've got some more. Walk away. I once had a Tom on public land that wouldn't come in but to about 50, 60 yards, and when he did he stayed in thick cover with no shots. I got glimpses of him, but then he would move off still gobbling as I called. I'd get up, get a bit closer, call, he'd gobble, and move off, but still would gobble. Well, I started thinking he'd played this game once or twice on this heavy hunted area. So I snuck as close as I dared, called, he gobbled, and I started walking dead away from him while I called. Next time, he was a bit closer. I kept moving away, and he moved in pretty quick. Now keep in mind, I'd wandered into some thick stuff with about zero shot opportunities and this bird was closing fast gobbling hard, I started almost running, and this bird picked up the pace. Wish I could have seen it, this bird chasing me as I ran through the woods calling, desperately looking for an opening. Must have been hilarious. Finally found a little hole in the thicket, and put him down at eight yards as he almost walked into my lap!

When they hang up, I go to them. I put the call away, take off my vest, and start moving as quickly as I can to get as close as possible. Once I am within gun range, but still out of sight, I'll yelp softly a few times. Gobblers are usually willing to finish off the last few yards, or will at least gobble so you can get to where you can shoot.

Right now I’m trying to learn as much as possible before going out with a buddy of mine for the first time. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Matt, I tried this reversal on a Tom on Sat. I had worked a Tom starting at 11:30 AM and finally had him come in after 2:30 hours. I had Tom gobble every 4-7 times before I answered with soft call. We did this dance and I finally shot him at 26 yards

Great info I dont care what anyone else says. Slow play them and you'll have them in your lap. Maybe that's why they all want you to "get to the point". Shows how many are actually paying attention! I think that everyone can actually learn something if they slow it down.

"It's human nature, we enjoy when someone talks to us." Lemme just stop you right the... 🤣 great video nonetheless. Always has helpful hints and tricks and tips. I used this very tip on the bird I killed this morning. Granted, he was pretty fired up. So I probably could've yelled at him and he would've gobbled. Nonetheless, I called to him, he responded, and I just shut up immediately. About 3 minutes later, he gobbled. Then he started gobbling every minute, and I didn't respond to him. He actually flew across there creek to find me, walked right to me, and he was done.

That was exactly my last season's scenario. He gobbled for 1 hour back and forth, inside heavy wood only 60 yards but didn't show himself. So i went quite, put shotgun on my laps cuz i got tired holding it, 10 minutes later all the sudden i saw a fan through the blind holes just 10 yards away. I had to wait until he looked away gave me the time to shoulder the gun and smoked him. Yes it worked for me. 👍

Finally the 4th day I roosted the birds slipped in 100 yrds from the roost tree. Watched them fly down did not call till they gobbled a few times just answered back with a soft yelp let them gobble 2-3 more times soft yelp gobble 2-3 more times I just shut up and they started working towards me finally they still kinda hung up but at 55yrds instead of 80. Squeezed the trigger on the boom stick and killed the lead tom
