Your channel and Tanner Serpa's were the first to introduce me to aquariums, and now, I wouldn't think to do it any other way than you do (low maintenance). The red betta tank was my absolute favorite when you released it, I thought it was so jaw-dropping seeing all the red plants. I want to challenge you to use only the red, brownish red, and greenish red, for the rescape! No green carpet! The vibrancy of the red root floaters at the top it really stands out, which is always a must! Also, just curious if either Hellboy or the Titanium White Betta could be added to the 60 betta tank, or rather why that wouldn't be a good idea?

sorry to be a problem voice, but as the subject of Kate has come up, i must admit i"m feeling a bit uncomfortable about the way you talk about her helping you, but then "bailing." you seem like such a nice man; hopefully you are being fair about the division of labor you and Kate share as a couple. chalk my concerns up to having had more than 75 years experience--not all good-- as a human female

@@judithchiasson8554 The "bailing" jest is VERY clearly just that...a jest. Their "division of labor" is really nobody's business but theirs, and definitely not something that needed to be addressed here.

I love watching someone who loves what they do so much. My current apartment doesn't allow any pets in tanks or anything for some reason, but I'm about to move in to my first house and I'm hoping to build a nice planted tank. I've been watching you do it for so long that I just want one of my own now.

I actually tried putting my long finned guppy dudes in with my betta. He's like 5% aggressive: flares, will give chase for 2 seconds, and then gives up. All bark, no bite. He was hella mad when I put them in but I watched for hours to make sure, and once he realized they wouldn't fight him, he accepted them. He's in a 29G tank and tons of green neons and other random misfits who didn't fold into the 55, but they all live together great. He's the boss, but he's not rude about it. :) The guppies learned quick to just not get in front of him and he's chill. Lots of plants, too. Definitely the temperament of the betta matters, but all but one of my males (out of dozens) was perfectly fine with any and all other fish except other bettas.

Aghh MD , let me start off by saying that I've watched every video you've posted in the past year and a half but this is I reckon the second time I'm actually commenting on a vid . Firstly your videos are a source of relaxation for my mind and eyes whenever I'm a bit tensed and have my head aching cause of studies ( I'm a student by the way ) . Secondly , there's no other content creator that I know of that does the same ( period ) . Thirdly , the sheer amount of driftwood and hardscape you have on hand as stash for future builds equals out to the amount of hardscape 4 to 5 fish shops in and around my home does . Last but not least - keep pumping out videos as long as you can for I ( and we ) absolutely love it to the core and I too wish to have a smaller studio ( Kinda of the same size of one of the rooms of the previous two studious of yours that's now sat empty ) . Cheers , looking forward to the upcoming builds in the new studio .

The new studio is wonderful. Your rainbow fish look amazing! I'm so glad to finally see them show their true colors, which I never saw captured on video in the old studio. Boesmani inspired me to start keeping fish 10 years ago, but the iridescence of the Praecox is a current favorite of mine - you captured both beautifully in this video. I am curious - is this new studio a showcase for clients locally that you provide aquascaping services for - or is it all just for the channel? If you ever did offer aquascaping workshops, I would 100% find a way to hop across the pond to take one. Keep up the good work, I absolutely love all of your creative projects and they help keep me motivated/inspired in the hobby.

Sir, it's been 2 years i am into this hobby. But just 1 month back for the first time i have set up a 1x1 feet cube planted tank, not a hi tech tank though. Plants are growing but in average speed. It's ok as i guess as i dont have co2 facility. I am providing 10 -12 hrs of light, macro + micro fertilizer, root tabs. But the problem is, i see the stem plants like didiplis diandra, polysperma, s repens are growing aerial roots and plants are kind off growing horizontally, they seem like they are facing problem in standing firmly in aquasoil. Another thing, (HM) pearl weed is growing but it's very slow .. is it because lack of co2 facility ?

I keep musk turtles... just a heads up, they will destroy the tank 😂 they’ spend most of the time swimming around close to or walking on the bottom and places to get out of the water aren’t super necessary with them. They will bask close to the surface if need be but don’t need to leave the water like sliders and painted turtles do. They love digging and moving objects in the tanks, so expect rocks and logs and gravel to be shifted around. They naturally do this and it can be pretty destructive in a tank setting. Expect plants to be destroyed days after adding them. I personally gave up trying to make a nice “natural looking” tank for mine years ago because it last a day or two and then it’s wrecked lol

I think a nice couch would make it more charming. Aquarium Coop ...Cory... did a video of this huge studio in Netherlands where some professional aquascapers keep some of their tanks. It was remarkable; also white walls but there was some nice furniture to also give it an artistic and warm feel to it. The tanks are kept there for show I'm sure, but also loaded up with what I guess is a fork lift to bring them to shows. I think this studio is more a work place. This is a vlog channel so I guess making it an artistic endeavor except for the tanks of course is not necessarily something to attend to.

Hello MD, some feedback from me for your great channel. I just love your videos and usually watch them the day they are posted. The new studio looks great and has so much potential for upcoming projects/ builds. My favorite tanks are the big Rainbowfish tank and the high tech Beta Sorority. I also really liked the Archerfish tank, is that coming back? My biggest wish is for you to do a really, really big tank and the table at the entrance is the opportunity for it! A very big 3 meter (maybe even 4?) tank, natural scape, i would love to see. Would also be good against the many small tanks you already have. Also like yout thing with fishshop Matt. You two work so well together, and doing tanks at the shop and the studio gives a nice variety. Like the relax and informality you guys have. Personally I don’t really like the goldfish. They don’t fit in and your talent is in natural style and planted tanks and terrarium tanks in my opinion. All in all, great content, love your channel and wil be watching every single video! Keep it up man!

Hi MD and thank you for this great chanel! I was wondering if you know anything about "moina". When I was a kid I used to grow these small (really small) crustations. They are free swimers and are actually grown to feed fish and/or clean your tank if the water gets merky. They are like small live watercleaners. Ever heard of? They are like a relative to our european "daphnia". All fresh water. They are great to feed for instanse bettas (been growing lots of betta) german rams (been growing lots of rams) and other smaller freshwaterfish, just like your setup. Any thoughts?

I swear every time I wantch one of your videos I get this strong urge to do something to my tanks xD Speaking of: you are the reason I got back into fish keeping. I had a simple shrimp tank as a kid and always wanted to get one again. I discovered your channel last year. Now I have 2 tanks, just bought my first Betta (his name is Ominis), and even influenced my mom to get herself one as well xD About the plants: those are more of my strong suit, as I worked in a plant nursery at one point. I can't see your plants having any issues with the lighting. As long as they can get enough UV rays, they will do just fine. Because the uncovered windows are on top, like most of your plants, they should do well (as long as you keep up their watering schedule xD). You should use some fertilizer from time to time to make sure they got all the nutrients they need, but you probably know all about that :)

Is making that Valve under the MD name not a good Business idea? I’m sure many people would benefit from that. I’d certainly buy it. Been looking for ages for something like that but can’t find it anywhere. And i’m not handy enough to construct it myself..

Curious question.. Does anyone else have as nice a setup/KZbin channel ? Very much enjoy this channel, just wondering if there's any others. This pretty much takes the cake from what I've seen. 👏👍👌

I love your space! Also, you have to think about education stuff in the studio. maybe for kids who want to see in person, or want to learn how to take care of tanks first. Maybe for adult, but your space just screaming "more peoples, more activities". And that huge table perfect for project to set up small tanks for kids(or adults). Love your videos!

Do you recommend any cheap rimless tank Companys because I have been looking at 55-gallon tanks but they are like 700 dollars, and I don't have that much for just the tank.

Here’s an idea - an “invert-colored” red tank. Black substrate and black background, red plants only and green animals only (green jade shrimps, green rasboras etc.)

You should try the FZONE CO2 generator instead. It has a better pressure gauge and comes with a build in solenoid valve. The capacity is 4L so it will last longer

I found a baby red eared slider when I was 8 by the public pool when I was 8 and named him tom/tommy Bahama. Timmy and you have inspired me to get another one. It'll be a little while as I've just bought 26 emerald green corydora for a Breeding project

Spend some of that YT cash on non-reflective coating for your glasses :) I'm under the impression, an air pump & stone would help with the gassing off in that tank.

Love the new studio and the new builds!!! One quick question about your barrel of water. Is your city tap water just using chlorine and not chloramine? My understanding is that cholarmine is too stable to evaporate.

If you want advice on keeping your potted studio plants thriving, don’t follow the instructions. It’s best to just check the soil of each plant. monsteras are aroides (humidity loving, epiphytic plants) and like to have their soil moist to almost dry. It’s easiest to check by poking your finger down 2 inches (5 centimeters) into the soil near the base of the plant. If it feels dry, water it. If it’s still somewhat moist, don’t. Same with the other plants. Also, if you’re feeling ambitious enough, those monsteras would LOVE a moss pole. But if not, keep them secured to some kind of support. (I just let mine grow out of my tank and up the wall ;)

Your show tank, the rainbow tank, would look really nice with a white backdrop. Not permanent. You could put white on the other side of your black backdrop and wheel it in when necessary.. I really like white behind tanks.. That's just me :)

Beautiful and spacious new studio. I was wondering one this with your solo bettas with other fish or shrimp. Are those males or females? I want to do a community tank with 1 betta, some tetra, and corys with the 20 gallon I have. I understand that is only possible based off the temperament of the betta though.

Absolutely love your new studio super jealous your plants look fantastic for some added colour I would suggest that you get some Phalaenopsis orchids they love ambient light and are quite a stunning flower they can also be grown in water I think that was what Matt put in the slanted tank at the shop. Love your work keep the videos coming.

What if you consolidated your API liquids into single pump bottles? You could keep a few lids or get a small measuring cup for when you go to dose.
