Father fish has Bern keeping fish for 70 years, and has a deep substrate planted tank thats been running for 20 years without any water changes, cleaning or maintenance. I'm in awe, he's perfected the balance and the special 1" dirt formula with 2" sand cap helps create an aerobic environment for bacteria to break down the detritus that sits down through the sand away from the fish. The most important part is to inoculate your tank with non sterilized wild wet leaves from a healthy water system though! The book should be out by the end of this year

I'm going to miss the old studio. Looking forward to the slew of new build videos that are no doubt about to come though. You've inspired me to start a tank of my own for the first time since high school. I'm going to pick up the tank tomorrow actually. I'm going to do an Australian biotope with spotted blue eye(a tiny rainbow fish) and native ninja shrimp, maybe some snails. I'm definitely going to use a lot of the tips and tricks you've shown in the setup and matenance. You've done some incredible things in that studio, expectations will be high moving forward.

Hey md fish tanks this sound kinda funny, I have a nice fish tank it has been running for quite a while now it 2 month. Th thing is that I have healthy, green and growing plants I’m my aquarium. But now I have a proplem with my floaters both duck weed and another plant is just dies and melts but my other plants are still healthy plsss help me. Slowly buying what I need for a fully aquascaped gourami aquarium. You've reignited my love for fish since my parents got rid of my 75 gallon mbuna tank when I went to college for a couple of months. Starting fairly small with a 37 gallon but hoping my hubs can be brought around to convert our spare bedroom to a fish room. Lol. I blame you. Lol. Thank you. Rabbitt’s Foot ferns (like in the Archer Fish tank) can be very tricky. They like high humidity and their roots need a certain amount of access to water but don’t like being kept sopping wet. In nature they thrive in the same environment as mosses; shady stream edges and moist, rocky ledges along small waterfalls. I’ve had them like one area and put out runners (the fuzzy rabbit’s “feet”), growing immense over time as they are fairly slow growers. Conversely I’ve had others start to die quickly just a short distance away from others doing great, forcing me to move them around with varying success. Bear in mind they really dislike being moved once they’re established.

Hi MD Fish Tanks. With the amount of tanks you have, I was wondering which power strips/bars you are using? All the ones I saw say not to use it in humid environments/with aquariums. As I have two filtered tanks right now, I really need a power bar to be able to filter and use the lights at the same time.

I think an awesome idea for your wall of nanos would be to take a “living art” approach. So what I mean is let’s say you have 5 nanos in a row, I would do it where when they’re lined up side by side they share a continuous hard scape flow (maybe with just the rocks.) but then each tank has unique plants and live stock in them.

Oh you must keep the gap in the Archer tank. Don't fill it up with rocks or plants. I think that the only thing it needs is maybe some moss covering the bare wood on the top of the arch. That would make it look fantastic 😊.

MD in the new space can you do 1 large tank and do something like the African tank you did at Fish Shop Matts store? Maybe an indoor pond setup? And try a single saltwater setup so us freshy plebs know how hard/easy it is. Ughh so keen to see what you do

You could maybe trasnport the tanks without tanking the plants out, like the endler guppy one. Once you drain and get the fish, you could maybe spray the plants down and then cover the tank tops in saran wrap (clingwrap etc) and it will create a nice humid enclosure for the plants until they get there. Like the plants in baggies at the store keeping the moist but not submerged.

I don't envy the process you'll be going through to move all these tanks not to mention creatures. ....yo the reason you don't like your iwagumi very much is all that algae... In iwagumi is meant to be contrasting the stone against the plants, which doesn't happen when the stones are over taken by algae.
