I put an MDT Field stock on my Howa .308. It used to wear a laminated stock. When you tightened the screws, they got tighter and tighter and tighter. Then I put on the MDT field stock. The action screws turned, then they just STOPPED. Bottomed out. When I torqued, they didn't BUDGE. But the rifle now regularly shoots cloverleafs with match ammo. Using MDT polymer mags, I have no last round problems, but the mags are a bit sticky in the stock. Small price to pay.
@allentrevino391629 күн бұрын
I was going to tell you to contact MDT for a longer latch but reading your comments it seems you got that fixed. I have an old gen1 Ruger American Ranch in 300 Blackout and had a hell of a time with the old MDT 223 magazines. Their new metal magazines and their newest polymer magazines in 223AICS are flawless. That Ranch looks great in the Field stock.

I had the same feeding problem in my XRS 223. 1 out of the 3 mdt polymer mags I bought had this issue. Follower issue in the mag. Also check your bolt is coming back far enough. Also the feed lips on the mag might need tuning to bring the round higher which is why I won't buy polymer mags again, because you can't adjust them. The mdt metal/poly mags are awesome.

@brett5990 I did another video it was the mag release they sent me a totally new design. They knew exactly what it was and had a fix already.

I had high hopes for the subs but I guess I should have expected that with herters ammo. I bet you could tune the hand loads to tighten that group up.
@willardscott52907 ай бұрын
The mag issue sounds more like a follower or spring issue. If the bolt picks up every round, but the last one I would think the angle of the cartridge is the issue. When the brass is stacked on brass it be angled higher at the rim. The last cartridge is on the follower and is not being lift either high enough, but more than likely angled right. It could also be a weak, short, or miss aligned spring.

Thanks for the review Eli. I'll have to look at this stock for my Ruger American 300 Black Out. I shoot it more than I shoot my two AR 300 Black Out builds. Something about a bolt action I guess. I'll certainly check out the load data on the page as well. I have some load data from a round I put together for plinking. A friend gave me a lot of 150 FMJ pulls from some old 308 LC rounds so we decided to create some 300 Black out plinking rounds with them.

Have no experience with this stock but I would try the recommended torque. I wouldn't think it would make that much difference but just for shii & giggles I would try it. Nice video. Keep'em coming!
@Dayattherange7 ай бұрын
kentucky windage the torque is just there for guidance some metal does not have that strength. I have actually seen receiver holes on the bottom of actions stretched out trying to get to the exact recommendations. I actually did get ahold of Ruger after the fact and they gave me guidance nothing more is needed than 40 to 55in pounds. Glad they got back with me because I was thinking about taking it up.

@@Dayattherange Hope you get it resolved. Maybe MDT will send you another or swap out so you could at least tell if it is just the stock / mag you have or all of that model. Great video as per usual. Keep'em coming!

Check if MDT has an adjustable mag release or a longer one. MPA has an adjustable for their chassis so you can adjust the length to hold the magazine in the full upward position.

Could the magazine release have been installed backwards? If it's a little bit longer on one side than the other that could be why you have to push the whole magazine up to load the last round.

The only reason I would ever have a .300BLK is to suppress. No good reason to shoot supersonic with it... if you're gonna break the sound barrier then shatter it!
@JamesClark-lw6sw7 ай бұрын
Some folks have only ONE rifle and are hunting LEGALLY . .SUPERSONIC 110g to 120g loads @2,1000FPS + are MUCH better killers than in game than a sunsonic load inside 200 yards.
@CplSkiUSMC7 ай бұрын
@@JamesClark-lw6sw Buddy, if I had only one rifle, it wouldn't be a .300 Blackout. I do not have a suppressor or a rifle that shoots subsonic cartridges, but I might actually like to have one... and .300BLK fits that bill, but I would only use it for that quiet work that it was designed for. I'd rather use .308 or 30.06 for supersonic or if I want to really make some noise, my .338 Lapua. To me, the .300BLK is a niche cartridge/rifle... but it's a nice niche when you don't want to wake the neighbors.
