I am so glad I'm not the only one that was not comfortable with the torque sequence on those rings. In the end, I did it my way as I simply cannot stand ring caps with uneven spacing. BTW, glad to hear you stressing the use of Vibra-tite. It's almost uncanny how it not only stays put, but has anti-sieze properties. Thanks for another great video.

I’ve talked about it and I think made a short on it. I love them. MPA is going through some production issue with them right now so it might be a while. I think the MPA and MDT are both excellent. I think the MDT are better in proportion to their price. They’re a beefier mount which I do like. I do love that the MDT comes in 1.34” and may be switching my MPA mounts on my rifle to the MDT just for the height. When my rifle came in all we had in stock were 1.125 height MPA mounts and the 1.25 (which I wanted weren’t gonna be in for another couple weeks) so I said screw it, I’ll just go with the 1.125 and have regretted it ever since. I think I’m going to switch and me messing up the torque procedure in the video seems like a good excuse to do so and video the princess. Thanks, Gary

Yeah… they have a LOT to improve on. The creator interface, uploading videos and managing content is even worse than the standard user interface but I’ve seen improvements just since I started a channel in Jan. The only way it will get better is people moving there. YT was terrible at first too. Thanks for the support! -Gary

Great job for a “spur” of the moment decision to make a video on the MDT mount. I watched the video on Rumble and follow you there as well but for some technical reason regarding email verification, I was not able to leave my comment there love your videos as well. I regret getting the 1.125 MPA mount based on the recommendation at MPA‘s website per scope used.

Hi Gary, Thanks for your excellent videos and information. I'm an old tank gunner and I just watched your video on MIL vs MOA, using the reticle for correction is what we used to do with tank gunnery. It's been a long time but it was a fun trip down memory road. You will be happy to know that despite one or two of my fellow shooters urging me to go with MOA I went with MILs. Anyway quick question. I'm building a Tikka T1x for PRS and plan to mount it in an Oryx chassis at some point. I'm looking at a 20 MOA MDT rail and trying to decide between the one piece MDT scope mount or their rings, either the lightweight or elite (which I believe have a built in cant bubble) What would you recommend? Thanks for your time and great content.

I just started watching your videos and like them. But when I watched this one I right away saw something you need to know. The Short Action Customs Final Scope Level is NOT designed to be used the way you used it. It is meant to be installed on a solid base or solid tripod, leveled off, and then your align your reticle with a plumb line or laser line. Using scope caps, the base of scope, mounting the scope on a rifle using your rail as a level point all are useless because all of these could be off. With the final scope level you are lining up your level with the best known level to mankind, gravity. So if you get your SAC Final Scope Level mount perfectly level the rest is the gravity plumb line where you can't go wrong. By the way, one of your other video's convinced me to order a Send-It electronic level. Thank you for that.

Lol. Dean, I do a lot of methodology testing and you’re falling for an age old trap. Scope mounting methodologies don’t matter. Almost all of them can work and all have room for mechanical and human error. What matters is confirmation. When mounting a scope there’s 3 things you need to confirm: 1) Optic is mounted plumb and it MUST be plumb/leveled to the rail if you have mechanical elevation, e.g. 20 MOA rail. 2) Reticle is plumb inside the optic 3) Optic tracks correctly The ONLY way to confirm all three is a Tall Target Test. I cover the wavy of all this in my Scope Mounting Myths video. You should watch it. Scope Mounting Myths - BUSTED! kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3WlnoZrhZVroJI

@@paramounttactical The reason I asked is because I have an MILL scope and have heard conflicting comments about using a 20 MOA scope base with a mill scope rather than an MOA scope. Some have said it matters others say it doesn’t. Thank you for your response. Hard to find any information on this.

Could you give me a real example of how the POI move when the scope is canted? For example: I have 100 yard zero, 1 deg cant and standard 308W rifle. How will this affect the POI at 200,300,400 ... yard?
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
Sure, the general rule of thumb is 5” @ 1000 for every 1 degree of cant. And it’s very easy to add 8-10 degrees of cant through mounting or just not using an anti can’t device while shooting. But there are many other factors involved like cartridge, the mount… a taller mount @ 1 degree will produce more offset etc… I see students miss 20” targets at 4-500 yards all the time due to cant that are missing bc they aren’t using their bubble level. They “feel” like the gun is straight -bang-miss, bang- miss. I know they’re Dope is right, “did you check your bubble?”, bang-center mass. Hope that helps.

MDT, Sphur, or MPA, what’s your order of choice?
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical Жыл бұрын
I think between MDT and MPA they are equal proportional to their prices. I slightly prefer the MDT because I like more heavy duty mounts but the MPA is an awesome mount and cheaper. I like the MDT height choices better as I think the 1.34" is a real sweet spot but most people will be happy and comfortable with the 1.25" MPA comes in. I prefer both of those over Spuhr but I do like them. Spuhr are the most difficult to mount an optic in over any other i've used. They ring pull dramatically and it's impossible to find a good offset. It takes me like 2hrs to get most optics mounted perfectly in a Spuhr. They're also more expensive than the other two. MPA is also having some production issues at the moment (May 2, 2023) and it may be a while before their mounts are available again. Great question and thanks for always watching Jason! -Gary
