To be honest i didnt touch my pedals. I use Demon Pearl Drive pedals and i just left them in default settings except for switching them to long board. However i use to use DW9000 and i kept making the spring tighter and tighter. I found the feeling of the pedal sticking to my foot helped quite a bit. Also look up

thanks dude, yeah ive been practicing doubles for about 3 years now, i can get the speed going but i find my left foot starts lagging after a few seconds, do you loosen your kicks springs or not? mine are about as loose as i can get them im using eliminator pedals with the plastic straps :) love them to bits!

Ok thanks! I felt like the heaviness of the Iron cobras was slowing me down and I got the demon drives for half the price so I decided to buy them. One can play fast with any pedal but ''faster'' pedals may make the progress of practice and playing fast easier(?). I played 4 hours today and the demon drives feel better by every hit : ) One guy had the same situation with the axis. He didn't like them at first but he tried to make them work and after some time he praised them as the best.

Just try different settings and stay the way you feel most comfortable. I tried many pedals in my drum career and I´m most comfortable with tightened DW5000´s. And the thing with your left foot: well, that´s practice. What I would recommend: try making the left foot your lead foot from time to time. It helped me alot.

You seem to have some experience so I hope you could answer this: I just bough the demon drive pedals but they don't feel as good as my old Iron Cobras. After few days of playing I could play stuff at the same level as I got used to them. So, if I prefer the Iron Cobras now is there any reason to try and get better with the demon drives? I'm hoping they will be better and faster in the end. But is there really a reason that almost all fast players use pedals like axis and demon drive?

the only answer any drummer will reply with is "practice". Took me roughly 2 yrs of playing to finally be able to do double bass that fluently. After playing jazz for almost a year and i can barely do that now. So the trick is to practice frequently and stay on top of it, otherwise you will loose it.

As I said: choose the pedal you feel most comfortable with :) And I had those axis pedals at home for several days but the rebound was just killing me. So I prefer my DW5000´s and I´m happy with it :) @ "faster" pedals: there are none. You just have to adjust your technique and style to it.

Just start incorporating open handed playing into your practice. Start by using it on more straight grooved songs your band plays. I practice open handed playing when I'm driving in the car listening to music, using my left foot as my bass drum foot on the rest plate :). I don't really practice it during my personal practice time but since I've been doing it for some many years I have become so much more versatile drummer and allows me to keep my high hat rocking while I play fills. Go 4 it

By faster I mean lighter pedals that don't need so much work to put in motion. Also they may not hit as hard but at least all the energy doesn't go there. It's not that simple ofc and these are only my assumptions. In theory I don't see how the IC could be faster, unless it really suits your feet better. Too much rebound with the axis? Wow, I had to really struggle to get the rebound I wanted from the demon drives. Well I'm used to extra high tension springs and the cobra coil on the IC's...

I won´t recommend you to use either that pedal or the other. First of all: Why did you buy the Demon Drives if you were satisfied with your old Iron Cobra? Just give both a try and you will soon experience which ones are the best for you. For me Demon Drives won´t work because of my shoe size which is 14. :)
