Guile is a problem for a lot of characters. Myself as a Bison player i find Guile to be on the same level of problem as Cammy for different reasons.

I hadn't played SF5 (I am familiar with the series though) before and I was playing against my buddy who is like super silver or something I was ruy and I was doing ok against some of his characters, then he switched to guile and just blasted me with sonic booms and wheel kicks for 2 hours. It hurt but I learned a lot, I didn't win that much but I did get better, it was just a rough experience.

Ryan Greig was thinking the same for ken, but I think it's much easier for ken because of the shinryuken for 1 and an hp.dp that eats thru projectiles although it's universal for dp characters, ken has that extra vertical and horizontal range.

Hey Jimmy - wanna contribute to this: 1. Regarding corner control and the inevitability of a jump-out - when a jump out will cross you up, wouldn’t it be a better option to anti-air with a neutral jump or jump back hp air mp xx ex tatsu? If I were in the corner, I would choose to cross up jump out even knowing that I would eat one crosscut. 2. At certain ranges, when a Guile makes his opponent block a sonic boom, they will follow up with sobat, c.mk, b.hp, hk step kick, or backfist, depending on the distance and depending on the Guile player. So I like to position my self around where most Guile’s like to do a blocked boom into sobat, block a few booms and see what they do. Often, if you position yourself so you block a boom just outside of that range, their follow up will whiff - be it a sobat or step hard kick. That was you can score a whiff punish/knock-down into oki without having to resort to a jump in.

1. the air to air approach is nice because you keep the corner control but it's more difficult to do. the reason why I almost always like to do the crosscut punish instead is because I apply pressure AND punish the jump out if necessary. You can't do that if you insist on punishing the jump out with an air to air because you need more time for that punish. 2. punishing whiffed buttons of guile is very important in the matchup, I definitely agree. I feel like this is even more important now in season 4.

azdine simon I'm a platinum Ryu player. my advice is to don't let her dictate the match. be willing to fight up close and personal, try and maintain your space and don't try and tech all the time. Btw i actually prefer the camny mach insted of guile, way easer to handle especially with her health if you let them know early.

I rarely lose to Guile i think it's just the knowledge of the matchup from decades of playing. I play it the same way I grew up playing it and alot of it is what you point out. Great vid as always sir!

The problem is a match happens too fast so you need to pratice A LOT to know exactly what to do in specific situations, still I think Guile's normal are way too good plus his damn OP Sonic Boom make his footsie game damn annoying to deal with :| I think Capcom need to nerf his Booms on block eh...

How was that luck... He outplayed him in every instance. You can take any match and call it luck by that logic. He was 'lucky' that the guile didn't do what he needed to do to win, but isn't that just called playing better or worse.
