It's all good, you have like 99% success on all your other builds.

You nailed it. Just add some length to the fuse for low reynolds numbers. Glide test with up elevator for CG, and then mix in down-elevator-to-throttle for powered flying. Remember that the weight was in the engine on the real bird below the CG- when your battery weight is above CG. You get increased agility but lose the pendulum stability.

It clearly needs more speed to takeoff, thrust momentum makes it pitch up and stall while aerodynamic forces aren’t decent enough. Bungee launch or ground roll would certainly help.

Thomas is great at perfecting them - so looking forward to it very much and the me163.

I have build a me262 of Depron sheets and had the “right over my head“ experience too. I added a 45 degree down deflector at the end of the turbines and now she flies great. First I thought 45 would be too much, but that‘s what did the trick.

You never know until you try it! I always built with balsa and fixed many a crack-up, too. Cheers!!

Can you angle the inside of the nacelles downwards?

increase the horizontal stab area by 25%

Yep I think the whole tail horizontal and vertical needs to be bigger 👍
@KF9919 сағат бұрын
I think it just needs more speed.

The real ones had all sorts of issues getting off the ground initially too. Tricycle gear helped and tail dragging just blew the exhausts in the the ground and stopped the tail coming up with the turbulent air. IIRC, the CG is really far forward of normal, making them nose heavy on engine out.

It's good to show what works but also as important to show what doesn't. besides you have more successful flights than not.

I think you might need to scale up the tail surfaces. Does the hz stab have at least 20% of the surface area of the wing?

Thanks for sharing even the bad ones. I bet you get it going eventually ....

I know you have bigger problems to figure out first but I really think you should increase the ailerons to extend to the wingtips. Having small ailerons with high throws could create adverse yaw conditions.

That was sad, having the EDF’s spaced that far apart isn’t helping either. Since you are a whiz at designing these little jewels, I have a design suggestion. Redo the thrust tube in the nacelle. Have the EDF’s moved forward as you could use extra weight in front of the CG. Then after the EDF unit, bow the thrust tube upwards to around the middle of the wing, just under the wing lower surface. Then curve the thrust tube downward to the exit. This might just you that down thrust you are needing. Just sharing some thought bud, your designs are inspiring. I’ve checked most of your designs, I’m surprised you have yet to design a F-4 Phantom, maybe a twin 50mm would fit the bill best for it’s size. 😊

You could add a trim tab to the engine exhausts to deflect so thrust down. To get rid of the nose uo effect. Try it. With a screw to change the angle. Just in the exit, so you only see it from the rear. Why don't you add some thrust verctoring, then you can trim in flight.

Made a foam board 262 a while back and ran into similar cg issues, wasn't able to sort them out before the airframe gave up the ghost.

Just install a 20$ gyro and use it until she's up in the air, you can still turn it off once she's flying. Less frustration for a few bucks... ;-)
