This hits even harder when you remember Humans first encountered Turians in a bad way, starting the First Contact War. While various people from two races are still resenting the other, here’s a Turian guard who is worried for a teenage human, even conceded if someone’s bothering him.

I think by the time of ME2 (depending on whether the alliance saved the council or not) most of the council races including the turians warmed up a lot to humans But the most interesting conversation imo is the one between that human and batarian refugee, both lost everything and they finally have some common interest

@@KalashVodka175 Depends on what you did. If you let old Council die, humanity is perceived as a bully who pushes their own interest at the expense of everyone else. In the ME2, the news said that either: 1. The Turian Hierarchy is considering to paying additional reparations to Alliance for the First Contact War(this is if you save council) 2. There are news about rising tensions on the borders of Alliance and Turian Hierarchy(council die). Not to mention the fact that humanity in ME2 is basically running the Citadel. Humans controlled or had hand in nearly everything that was happening on the Citadel. They became 4th race to join the council, the C-Sec was basically crawling with humans and if i am not wrong, one of the Alliance's fleet took over guarding Citadel from Turians{although temporarly). Long story short, there are multiple species that could resent humanity just on principle. Volus - helped to create the whole economic system which is used by galactic community. They were like 3rd species that discovered Citadel like several thousands years ago, yet Humanity got council chair after being in community for 30 years. Elcor, Hanar, Drell - same stories, they came long before humanity but noone cares Quarians,Krogan - does not have even an embassy in Citadel, so i am not counting them. Turians - First Contact War, but if the right choices are made, this is starting to mend in trilogy. Actually there may be only two races in the whole galaxy that have no disputes with humanity. Salarians and Asari.

​@@HanithSVK I think a lot of the Turians have a respect for humanity if a grudging one. I didn't really think many Turians outright resented humans aside from the older ones that were around/involved in the First Contact. The younger ones like Garrus(I know he's a special one) seem fine with humans and vice versa with exceptions of course. If I recall the council wanted humanity in the fold because of their military power or at least that was one of their reasons. They were able to stand up to the Turians, which is a impressive feat considering that humanity were "fledglings" at that point. I think they were intended to just be in the same bracket as the other races but humanity pushed through and then Shepard came along.

@@AdeptKing Of course Turians respect humans, if only because even though they were technologically inferior, through they wits, they managed to push Turians back during Shanxi colony incident. Turians respect military prowess and Alliance proved to have an ample supply. This is also true, and if I am not wrong, one of the Volus(or maybe someone else, not sure right now) said something like that to you. That unlike them, humans had a capable and strong army, which Council wanted in the fold. But before Sovereign attack, they all were still suspicious of humans because they were on fast track to gain more political power(having a human as Spectre was a huge step). But after Sovereign, council was stretched too thin so they leveraged the only thing they could offer. Seat on the council in exchange for humanity resources.

The NPC dialogue trains on the Citadel in ME3 are amazing - the girl selling her car for her Salarian friend, the refugee, the Asari-Turian couple as he’s shipping out. Amazing writing.

Not really. During the reaper invasion there is a newscast which mentions multiple cities destroyed: Adelaide, Al Jubail, Hamburg, Fort Worth. Also mentioned in the codex later on. (Hamburg it is)

One of the saddest and heartbreaking moments in the game but at the same time a bond happened between the Turian and human girl as the Turian i think knew that the girl's parents weren't coming and he tried to comfort and protect her in any way he could. The Blue Rose of Illium With Krogan was the saddest in my option.

And there’s the one about Joker’s sister! The happiest one in my opinion is the one with the Silarian who gets the armor from his girl friend.

Its possible that her dementia was just making her think it was her daughter in law, which makes it even sadder. I like to believe it was her daughter in law but yeah.

And think of how many orphans there will be left from the war. Children of all species, some of them might not be able to be adopted by members of their own species, children with medical conditions might not get the help they need, all that trauma. Like, this is weird, but I was thinking the other say about, like, the turians are the most prepared of the species. What if there are children's homes on the Citadel for war orphans; a human one, asari, turian, salarian...and they all get full, especially the human ones. So some of the human orphans are sent to the turian orphanage because they have the space. And what if the poor turian social workers do their best, but they accidently give a child with a peanut allergy, like, peanut candy?

The situation, when I first heard it, made me feel legit rage- Made me motivated to butcher the reapers (I was twelve, I knew it wasn't real, sue me XD) and I find that interesting- how this game can make you feel loss, pain, and absolute fury. Dev's may have kinda shook up the story (It was admittedly not the greatest, but what is?) but it got you invested.

I don't know if I took it that far, but I totally know what you mean about being invested, every time I would come across one of those conversations on the Citadel I'd listen to it and then leave and reload the page as many times as I needed to hear the whole thing. As for how the trilogy turned out, I always go back to how a friend of mine described the Mass Effect trilogy, he explained it like eating a 3 course meal. The appetizer is a Caesar Salad, and it's good, it tastes good, but there's a little too much dressing, a wilted piece of lettuce here and there, and ya know a "bug" or two. The main course is a top sirloin steak and mashed potatoes, cooked to perfection! You love every single bite, and you're hungry for more when you finish. The dessert is a big slice of New York Cheesecake, once again, delicious, you love it, you finish your meal, the waiter comes to bring you your check and cuts the nastiest fart ever. That is how you can break down the three games, Mass Effect 1 wasn't great, and it had a couple bugs, but it had a ton of potential. We all know Mass Effect 2 was the best one, and with good reason, that game is just short of pure perfection, and Mass Effect 3 is almost as good, combat has been tweaked but it's still a ton of fun, the RPG elements are there, and just as good, the epic story line lives up to the hype and the space battles are badass, and then the last 30 minutes of the game makes you throw up in your mouth a little bit. Anyways, rant over!

And then it turns out the shuttle WAS super late. They just had a terrible pilot, and her parents ended up going on a long but ultimately harmless adventure full of whacky hijinks that made Shepard's time during the Citadel DLC look like a quiet weekday afternoon. Eventually, at last, they did arrive safe and sound and reunited with their daughter. The reunion was sweet and full of tears of joy from all of them, even the Turian guard, who was all too happy to see the poor girl back with her family. Her parents thanked him profusely for watching out for their daughter, and he became a beloved family friend - for several generations, due to the long lifespan of Turians. They would invite him to join them every holiday, and he would always take them up on it when he could. This is my headcanon, and no one can tell me this wasn't what happened.

Im so happy the game gives us little moments like this in the background. Because the main story kinda puts turians in a.. not negative but not good or kind light. Outside of garrus that is. The games a bit pushy with the "turians hate humans" and vice versa that its easy to make the assumption "they hate each other and theyre all assholes to each other" but then you see this absolute saint.
