Jonathan, you lived up to your usual whitty sharp tounge commentary which is a pleasant to listen to and almost poetic. Hope you go on to make LOTS more such films.

My oh my how Birmingham has changed since this was filmed.

Not much has changed apart from the new Bull Ring Centre and the new library. And the sculpture Forward was unfortunately destroyed by arson. Brindley Place was already there in 1998.

I remember the old Bullring before the one that was knocked down in 1999. This was in the 1950's, it was a long cobblestone hill with handcarts either side. I went there at night once and it was like a festival, you could buy a camera that was a water pistol or gaudy little Japanese toy cars, helium filled balloons and fish, there was a Fish market.

Feeling stupid here but can someone explain the Roy Hattersley joke where that guy cleans the window.
@anonUK6 жыл бұрын
Roy Hattersley is known for spitting when he talks. The joke is that bits of his curry ended up on the windows.

I grew up in brum as a kid and even though it's much cleaner now its an awfully designed city with lots of ups and downs. Enoch Powell has never been so mentioned and admired for his forsight.
