Make a living crafting Primitive Bows and Arrows. Read below one of my clients emails after receiving his new bow(seen in video)This bow is one of many reaching completion. The email is below, thank you Paul for sharing this heart felt testimonial and thank you to all that read and watch my videos. I am truly blessed with the support! The Mead Tribe thanks you!
“Primitive Perfection”
I first purchased the “father & son” bamboo horse bow “you finish” package. My son and I completely enjoy shooting these light fast primitive bows. Dave’s bamboo horse bows capture what archery and bows should be about. Functional and extremely effective handmade tools that maintain the ancient relationship of man and bow. My interest in archery has always been primitive bows. I live in South Florida amongst technology obsessed people who need an app to do anything or have to have Alexa do something for them. When you go to an archery range here with primitive equipment you are the oddball. People have the sad belief that the technology of compound bows, ultrahigh velocity arrows, arrow releases and special sighting systems make them better archers. The only thing archery technology does, is take you further away from the Zen like “mind body connection” of instinctive archery. Everything Dave does and builds is in tune with the ancient methods. Our ancestors were able to provide and survive for untold thousands of years with primitive bows and arrows. Back in May 2018 I received an email from Dave about a sale for the sinew composite horse bow for previous customers. Because of the enjoyment my son and I get from our horse bows I immediately jumped on the offer. Last month I received my bow. Dave had some health issues and the bow took over a year to build. It was worth the wait! The sinew backing takes the bamboo horse bow to an entirely new level of performance. The sinew backing makes the limbs of my horse bow have a very nice reflex unstrung translating to fast arrow speed. Although the bow is 33 lbs. at my 29.5” draw the arrows penetrate like 45 lb. bows I own. I choose to have my sinew composite horse bow backed with a copperhead snake skin and leave the siyahs natural color. With the craftmanship, fit and finish that Dave used to build my sinew composite horse bow, my best description is “primitive perfection.” Anybody who would like to have a primitive sinew bamboo horse bow should place and order, you won’t be disappointed!

Break away from the box you have been conditioned to fit in. Be a warrior. Don't stress and don't take yourself so seriously. Afterall we are all insignificant in the grand scheme of things. The power is in your mind to control how all things affect you. Connection with loved ones and the Universe around you is key.

Sensei Dave Mead you are a true Martial Artist! Most don't know you have taught other Martial Artist what Martial Arts is really about. I have been a student of Mead Archery over a year and yes Mead Archery is real Martial Art. With almost 40 yrs of exp training and fighting some of the best in the world I know a real Martial Art when I see it and thats why I am a student of Mead Archery.

Wow man what amazing content. One thing I realise is that a lot of creative people that build things with there hands and love doing things outdoors. All have the same free nature. The same free heart and free mind. It's something that pushes in the direction of wisdom. These type of people can never do things that enslaves them. These type of people prefer to do hard work that results in sweet sweat. Not sweat from those who are shackled. But hard work that rings to the sound of freedom. Awesome content.

Thank you for your good thoughts and the sharing. As a life long carpenter and wood worker I appreciate not only the points about a humble life but also a life worth living. Our kids will only see the peace and purpose they have shone to them which is less about money and possessions. Life is about honing a craft and a gift as well as having a soul for others. Peace brother!

Excellent video and advice. I’ve been bow-making since 2007. Up until the last 4 years was I able to produce bows worthy of being sold. So far, I have sold 5 bows and have had my arrows and quiver featured in a short film called Tribe by director Adam Besheer. They have posted the movie as private, and i’m still trying to get viewing permission. Although it’s not my main source of income, I take pride in knowing I can go out, harvest my own tree, shape it, tiller it, and give it to somebody that will enjoy it. I also don’t favor the idea of working vigorously at a dead-end job, only to retire at 65. I need the woods. I crave nature. My goal is simple, to grow closer to nature and tune my bow making skills and hopefully be able to teach people. All of my bows are replicated but customized after various Native American bows. I got into sinew backing for a while, but have put that aside to favor the Sudbury longbow design as well as the simple Cherokee D bows. Thanks for this. -Aaron

Just found you and am delighted. You speak the truth, it is a journey that last all your life. At 14, I knew the life I wanted to live and though it took almost 20 years to find my mountain, I have been here ever since. I'm 66 now and "retiring" is unthinkable. For those of you still wondering how to start, Mr. Mead is absolutely correct. Just start. A little every day.
