Hey Shelby, found your channel last year and am obsessed with your videos! I've watched so many of your videos and have gone back and watched all of your meal plan videos!! Was wondering if you had any good financing/budget tips for young people (I'm 20) in terms of university, saving & spending! Thanks so much :)
@TheQueensCabinet6 жыл бұрын
Laura I truly believe in college education in fields that are always marketable and recession proof. For example, the medical field is always in demand because people are always going to have health care needs. On the other hand, when the economy slows even the worlds best interior designer is going to have problems finding clients. Secondly, learning to cook from scratch using whole foods will help you save a ton of money now and as your family grows. For example, you could spend 25 bucks going out for pizza or learn to make it for a few dollars and have a pizza party at home. Put the 20 bucks you save into savings. Finally, I would highly recommend the Dave Ramsey plan, there are channels devoted to it here on YT. His plan wasn't around when Ken and I were starting out, but it is basically what we did. We retired at 50, debt free, with two homes and a 6 figure lifetime income with cost of living increases. I'm not trying to be boastful, just painting the picture that if you start now, you can realize your goals. Our oldest graduated last year as a civil engineer and had to move to Washington for work for 3 years, a studio apartment was going to cost him 3,000 a month in rent, plus utilities, plus the cost of furnishing it. So Ken and I let him borrow our RV for 3 years, he pays 500 a month for space rental, utilities, cable and internet, Plus he didn't have to buy anything. By helping him in that way, he can max out his retirement from day one and get a nest egg saved. He was also able to max his 401 K and earn company matching funds. He had a little amount on his credit card and is now debt free. His cash savings is also growing. In 3 years, it is 150,000 turn around for him. The big picture is doing a lot when you are young, because that 150,000 is going to grow interest and over 30 years, a nice start towards his retirement. Moving forward, our son will be able to pay cash for just about all his future purchases. If he gets his next assignment close to home, he can stay here and work to pay cash for a home. Anyways, check out Dave Ramsey's baby steps. You are going to do great, most 20 year olds don't think of retirement. Hugs Shelby

TheQueensCabinet You are so right!! I’m perfect example of learning all this the hard way!! I wish I had the experience that you and Ken had when you were younger! We are doing okay by the grace of God but had we not had to go the hard road do to The parents not teaching us what we needed to know! I’m not complaining at all as the hard road has helped us both teach others and learn as we went! I’m so proud of you and Ken!! Your great parents I wish you nothing but the best in life! Your so lucky to have good kids that will take care of the things you loan them!! Even at 53 I’m still learning we all learn every single day of our lives..Take care Shey

How was the bagel? I've been wanting to try it.
@TheQueensCabinet6 жыл бұрын
Alicia I thought it tasted pretty good for 3 points, and it was big. It didn't have the smooth surface like a bagel, but it was great for a breakfast sandwich. I think it would be a great dough to make strawberry shortcakes with, making maybe 6 biscuits out of the dough. It is more like that kind of texture. I think I saw on The Skinny here on YT a long time ago, something about a delicious bagel and they ordered it. I can't seem to find that particular video.....maybe I will just send a message to Kim? I did order from Smart Bun some 1 point hamburger buns & cupcakes. They are about a week behind in shipping....will let you know how those are

Everything looked delicious as usual! The bagel really has me intrigued, was it as good as it looked? 😊
@TheQueensCabinet6 жыл бұрын
Michelle it was good as a breakfast sandwich but the texture wasn't like a bagel it was more like a biscuit. 2 Ingredient Weight Watchers Bagels Ingredients To make 1 cup self rising flour sift together the follow: 1 cup flour 1½ teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt To make bagels: 1 cup of self rising flour 1 cup of Fage Total % Greek Yogurt 1 Egg (for egg wash) Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel seasoning Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Combine 1 cup of self rising flour and 1 cup of Fage Total % Greek Yogurt in a bowl until a dough starts to form. 3. Turn dough on a lightly floured surface and brush your hands with a bit of flour. 4. Knead and divide into 4 parts. 5. Roll out each dough ball to form a rope and pinch the ends of each rope together to make a circle. You will have four bagels. 6. Beat one egg and brush over the bagels and sprinkle with Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel seasoning. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for 23 minutes and 500 degrees for 2 minutes so the tops can brown.

I’m in on a few of these meals definitely 😁I’m loving the bagel idea! I have the things to make the eggs perfectly sized for the bagel like McDonalds makes!! They need to be used now! I have been to Trader Joe’s twice now...I have yet to see the seasonings?? Can you tell me where they are located at your store Maybe I’m completely over looking them..They do stock kinda strangely 😂 I We by they the store twice trying to locate there ketchup again Ha Ha it was above freezing items!! Go figure I pass the freezer items up most of the time.. Love the Cashew chicken 1 will make me 2 meals So I’ll get the meat done and freeze 1/2 and make dinner on the other 1/2 I’ve seen Tuna at Sprouts very high priced I know you save a buck all the time..Where do you pick up your tuna steaks from?? I love the parchment fish dinners!! They are the best! Easiest too! Love ya girl take care Shey

Shey we get the tuna from Aldi's, it is flash frozen and vacuum packed. I have also bought haddock there. The spices at our Trader Joe's is on the canned goods isle. I still need to try the ketchup, we haven't been in a few weeks.
@Sheywh126 жыл бұрын
I noticed at Walmart Heinz is changing there Ketchups Up too!!! I didn’t stop to read the ingredients because I was gonna buy the Trader Joe’s I got my new book on Dr Hyman What The Heck Too Eat I love the fact he tells you exactly why things that use to be okay for us to eat is no longer good becau of the way the Government has let the growers pesticide and grow them verses the way they were grown for your grandparents It’s sad!! I couldn’t for the life of me believe what they do to our Wheat these days to make it grow faster As Wheat is normally a slow growing grain Not Anymore they spray it before harvest to help the next batch grow on the same ground not even turning the dirt or nothing!! Anyone that grows food knows you can’t keep growing the same thing in the same dirt!! I mean way back when men and women strPped plows To there backs to turn over the ground for the next crop which was never the same crop..Different crops fertilize the dirt naturally!!! I was mind blown at some of the stuff!! Our Government isn’t any better than any other Government they tell us nothing and feed us trash You’ve got to get this book you will never ever eat the same again I promise!!! He’s the reason I lost my 30 lbs before the surgery him and the dietician...I have everyone of his books and all his recipes love it!! He just takes us back to eating the way we were taught to eat as a child Home Made!! No processed foods at all..Never diet It’s a change of Life!! Wait till you read about white rice!! I didn’t know while rice was actually a seed a good for you Will feed that to Kevin more!! Hee Hee 😜 take care Hagd Shey I’ll shoot u a pic of the kitchen soon I’ve been in and out of bed with Humidity @ 100% the days!!! 😰 Hope your doing well take care Love ya Shey
