We are a brown gravy family. I just let the flour brown slowly, and instead of dairy, I add water. It's a true poor mans gravy but is really good. I just mentioned this because I have noticed a few people who don't like the sweetness of white gravy. They may also be out of milk. Thank you for sharing, its appreciated.
@triplecreekfarm20079 ай бұрын
I make my white gravy with half 2% milk and half water for that very reason. Whole milk and 100% milk is too sweet for my taste. Lots of pepper helps as well.

@triplecreekfarm2007 I had to have half my stomach and 4 inches of my small intestine removed because of severe scar tissue due to an ulcer disorder. I can't eat too much pepper or other spicy foods in addition to other foods too long to list. Dairy is also very painful. I wish I could use those things again though.

I was born and raised in Alabama. Brown gravy made with water is how my Mama taught me to make gravy. She was born in 1934 and times were hard. She called it “panic gravy” and it is delicious!❤

In Denmark it’s very common to use the water from the potatoes. My great grandmother would always make it like that and then cook the flour in the grease from the meat, and only add salt and pepper.

@@JannieMette That is pretty much how my grandma did it. It's how I was taught. 🙂

I was given a lot of cast iron from my mother in law who got it from my husbands great grandma or grandma. I use it frequently. I am enjoying your channel more so now that your are doing more home made things. I try to watch my salt intake a habit formed for over 20 years as my husband had congestive heart failure. I see no reason to change that habit. I really look forward to seeing morehome made seasonings and things you come up with and that bread is the bomb.

It's awesome looking through the fridge & cabinets to come up with a quick meal inspiration on cold, snowy days. We really did our best this long weekend & didn't want to order out (having someone deliver pizza in this messy weather is just mean to the delivery drivers 😂). I usually like winter but I could do without the bitter cold temps right now.

You came up with some amazing meals! Those pizzas looked delicious . We used to have a pizza place here that had a Green and White Pizza ... Alfredo sauce, chicken, mozzarella, Parmesan and spinach or asparagus (you could get both, but paid extra). It was so good. I think it's the only pizza that was better on a wafer-thin crust (I'm all for thick crusts, usually). Our weather here in southeast Mississippi is actually going to warm up from the teens to the 60s and 70s next week, but with constant rain and thunderstorms. Hopefully, no tornadoes. Stay warm and safe! ❤

Have you ever put parmesan cheese on the butter side of your grilled cheese or hot sandwiches? I do and it gives it such a nice crunch and flavor. Lived your ideas! You could also do a balsamic reduction sauce on your chicken pesto pizza. I live adding it cause it's a little sweet and a bit of the acid balances the flavor of the pesto. I just drizzle a bit on the top when it's done.
