I would love to thank you for meals in bags. We winter in the desert of AZ and this week we found out that a couple 4 motor homes down from us rolled their UTV 6 times . He was pretty banged up and had a broken leg. She had to stay in hospital a week and just got released. I had 4 meals in a bag left. Grabbed them up and we headed over. They were so welcomed. She said they had been eating peanut butter sandwiches. She couldn’t move around much and he wasn’t much of a cook, he couldn’t go get groceries, so they had to make do.

Remembering the "original" video, Miss Pam and Mr. Jim made. Part of the reason for meals in bags is for the purpose of giving them away. I believe it was that video that I fell in love with Jim and Pam's hearts. Today, I add your heart ❤️. May Blessings surround you every second. Thank you for being here making this wonderful world a better place.

Those Meals in Bags are a Great Idea for kids at university. Food stored in shared fridge/freezers has a way of mysteriously 'disappearing', but students can keep those meals safe in their room until they are ready to cook. And I'm going to make some for my own pantry. Congratulations on 3 Years! You really are a natural born educator. 😊

You probably get tired of me noting how much our family LOVES kitchen science. And how much I personally appreciate how clean your work environment is. Having a child who is an organ transplant recipient (three new organs) this is so important to me. Also love that you demonstrate how a professional working woman can find find time to have a well stocked larder.,

Happy Accident! I was making this for dinner the other night after a long work day. I knew I had all of the ingredients including my home canned chicken, when I went to grab the bag of craisins it was EMPTY! Who puts an empty bag back in the pantry? My dear sweet husband! I had to add lib quickly and reached for my home canned cranberry sauce - your whole berry recipe. It turned out very good but a very different texture than with the craisins. What I discovered the next day taking leftovers in for lunch is that this made an excellent cold”no mayo” chicken salad . I will do this again !

Looks so delicious! I’m preparing a pea/lentil soup that I had jar sealed a few weeks ago. I’m new at this. What I’m learning is that quart jars are too much for us (2). I end up freezing half after it’s prepared as multiple leftovers don’t go over well with my better half.😉 Next time I will adjust and make a pint at a time. I think we would enjoy that better.

I have one suggestion, if possible to do. I would love a link to a pdf or a print option when you list the recipe below the video. Love the idea! I'm thinking of freeze drying the servings along with some vegetables and creating the same idea for my family. The idea of putting them in the bags is great! I love the idea that I can just grab a bag and head out camping. I'd also use it for sharing with others and having a meal ready when I need to send something to a new mother, ill neighbor and not have to "cook", but can rehydrate! I'll have to test the idea out this coming weekend! I love your channel, you have such good ideas and inspire me to better organize our food storage and add to what I am storing.

I have found that noodles and pasta are a bit pokey and cause microscopic holes releasing the vacuum on the bags. I have also found if you leave the snack bags of other items open maybe 1/16 of an inch, they also get the air vacuumed out while not allowing them to spill their contents.

I loved the Mushroom Soup from last week. It is for sure one I want to keep and use. I just need to copy it down. But that Cranberry Almond looks good!!! That's the one I voted for. Thank you for doing these videos. They are definitely appreciated. The info you share is certainly worthwhile and I love the fact that you work with food safety rules always in mind, and you keep an organized, sanitary environment to work in. That is important to me. And frankly that food just plain looks really good. I don't blame you husband for wanting to know how soon he could eat it. I'm thinking about how soon I can get the ingredients together myself. Thank you for sharing this.

That sounds amazing! I bet it would work really well with canned turkey as well. If you're looking for suggestions for a meal in a bag, I'd suggest Biryani. Biryani is a rice based dish that has vegetables, meats (sometimes) and lots of spices (but not spicy hot). It's super flavorful, and one of our favorite dishes. PS: Can I just say that I love that lodge pot/pan combo cooker. It's such a great thing to have for space saving in the kitchen or multipurpose use while camping.

For me though until I get a canner I can make meals in bags using canned meat, tuna, chicken etc and add cans of mushroom soup or chicken soup, rice, noodles, spices and cubes of Bullion, freeze dried vegetables to make similar bags like yours. I do have a sealer.

Thank you Pam and Jim. This recipe looks fabulous and I will just use vegan butter, veggie bouillon add the soy curls for the chicken, to make this vegan. It is a winner, I can tell. I remember when my younger son was in college, he was out of money and needed food. I fixed up a weeks worth of bags, like you just made, but using canned foods, whole onions, whole garlic etc. I included canned chicken that I had canned at the time and beef stew also. It is so nice when you can help someone in need, with something from the kitchen. Thanks again for the recipe.

I love these meals in bags!! Sooo convenient and oh my word how organized I could be if I had 50 of them on the shelves!! I think it’s an absolutely fantastic way to use your already canned foods and a way to pull together meals without having to stress or even think about it! I’m curious how you work on keeping them revolving so they don’t get too old? Or how you will know if something has become too old because they are hidden away in the bags. So if a seal fails on a can or if a vacuum pack loses its seal? If you could share your methods it would be very helpful. Thanks again! I’m learning so much from you with regard to food security and preparedness!!! So much more to learn and I’m happy to report that I’m using my canner frequently and getting my pantry shelves filled with my own potatoes and veggies. Soon I’ll be attempting meats into the mix but I thought I’d conquer veggies first. You have made the difference between me feeling totally unsure of what I’m doing to feeling confident that I can do this. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦

MY mouth is watering!! Looks delicious. I want to make some. I just enjoy so much watching you do all the work on your you tube channel! I am amazed that you never seem to take a rest. You are such a good person to teach us so many ideas and then teach us how to cart those ideas to fruitation. (Is that a word…..I’m not sure!!!!). See you next time. Always anxious to have you return.

@RoseRed I bookmarked this to try. Makes sense to have meals ready. I have lots of canned meals, but not bagged.

Hi Pam this is Sue, hint, when l vacuum seal anything l do a double seal to make sure it is good and sealed, l Made a few chicken and dressing with cranberries but made with freeze dried chicken, they were good, only change would be is no dehydrated carrots, found them rubbery. For the life of me l can not wrap my head around the canned meats, l realize it is safe, but l can do freeze dried, maybe one day l will be able to do it or even try it.

I also double seal but do the second one off camera. Your freeze dried chicken sounds great with this meal!

I’m definitely one of the ‘meal in a bag’ fans! This looks so good and I will be making it for dinner this week! I haven’t canned chicken yet but I have some leftover chicken that I will use. Thank you, this looks delicious!

Congratulations on your 3 year anniversary! This is a great idea. I would love to see more of your meals in a bag. I love freezer meals, but who has that much freezer space? These serve the same purpose, a little more prep involved, but you aren't using that precious freezer real estate. Thanks!

Playinatlife: Thank you! We agree, freezer space can be acute. Meals in bags helps resolve that problem. Jim

Absolutely love your videos! I've heard nuts cannot be stored long term. Does toasting them or maybe putting them in the vacuum sealer help them last longer? Again, thank you for the great ideas!

Thank you for this bag idea! Just a heads up that dollar tree has these bags three for $1.25 ( a little cheaper per bag and you can buy colored ones too). I’m waiting for our pressure canner to arrive but I’m also going to use this idea with regular cans from the store!

I was thinking could use binder clips or clothes pins to close bags if bags are getting any damage from staples. Great video. Looks yummy. 👍
