I would love to thank you for meals in bags. We winter in the desert of AZ and this week we found out that a couple 4 motor homes down from us rolled their UTV 6 times . He was pretty banged up and had a broken leg. She had to stay in hospital a week and just got released. I had 4 meals in a bag left. Grabbed them up and we headed over. They were so welcomed. She said they had been eating peanut butter sandwiches. She couldn’t move around much and he wasn’t much of a cook, he couldn’t go get groceries, so they had to make do.

Remembering the "original" video, Miss Pam and Mr. Jim made. Part of the reason for meals in bags is for the purpose of giving them away. I believe it was that video that I fell in love with Jim and Pam's hearts. Today, I add your heart ❤️. May Blessings surround you every second. Thank you for being here making this wonderful world a better place.

Those Meals in Bags are a Great Idea for kids at university. Food stored in shared fridge/freezers has a way of mysteriously 'disappearing', but students can keep those meals safe in their room until they are ready to cook. And I'm going to make some for my own pantry. Congratulations on 3 Years! You really are a natural born educator. 😊

Happy Accident! I was making this for dinner the other night after a long work day. I knew I had all of the ingredients including my home canned chicken, when I went to grab the bag of craisins it was EMPTY! Who puts an empty bag back in the pantry? My dear sweet husband! I had to add lib quickly and reached for my home canned cranberry sauce - your whole berry recipe. It turned out very good but a very different texture than with the craisins. What I discovered the next day taking leftovers in for lunch is that this made an excellent cold”no mayo” chicken salad . I will do this again !

Looks so delicious! I’m preparing a pea/lentil soup that I had jar sealed a few weeks ago. I’m new at this. What I’m learning is that quart jars are too much for us (2). I end up freezing half after it’s prepared as multiple leftovers don’t go over well with my better half.😉 Next time I will adjust and make a pint at a time. I think we would enjoy that better.

I have found that noodles and pasta are a bit pokey and cause microscopic holes releasing the vacuum on the bags. I have also found if you leave the snack bags of other items open maybe 1/16 of an inch, they also get the air vacuumed out while not allowing them to spill their contents.

That sounds amazing! I bet it would work really well with canned turkey as well. If you're looking for suggestions for a meal in a bag, I'd suggest Biryani. Biryani is a rice based dish that has vegetables, meats (sometimes) and lots of spices (but not spicy hot). It's super flavorful, and one of our favorite dishes. Thank you Pam and Jim. This recipe looks fabulous and I will just use vegan butter, veggie bouillon add the soy curls for the chicken, to make this vegan. It is a winner, I can tell. I remember when my younger son was in college, he was out of money and needed food. I fixed up a weeks worth of bags, like you just made, but using canned foods, whole onions, whole garlic etc. I included canned chicken that I had canned at the time and beef stew also. It is so nice when you can help someone in need, with something from the kitchen. Thanks again for the recipe.

I love these meals in bags!! Sooo convenient and oh my word how organized I could be if I had 50 of them on the shelves!! I think it’s an absolutely fantastic way to use your already canned foods and a way to pull together meals without having to stress or even think about it! I’m curious how you work on keeping them revolving so they don’t get too old? Or how you will know if something has become too old because they are hidden away in the bags. So if a seal fails on a can or if a vacuum pack loses its seal? If you could share your methods it would be very helpful. Thanks again! I’m learning so much from you with regard to food security and preparedness!!! So much more to learn and I’m happy to report that I’m using my canner frequently and getting my pantry shelves filled with my own potatoes and veggies. Soon I’ll be attempting meats into the mix but I thought I’d conquer veggies first. You have made the difference between me feeling totally unsure of what I’m doing to feeling confident that I can do this. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
