I went to New York a few years ago and stepping out of Grand Central Station was like walking on to a movie set. The crowds of people, the noise, the yellow taxi cabs etc. It was amazing ❤🇨🇦

Chain restaurants anywhere within vicinity of Times Square will be at least 50% more expensive then they are in the real world. A friend of mine lives in New york, and we used to enjoy a place called Chevys Fresh Mex. When they opened one in Manhattan, she was astounded at the differences and prices between the one where I live and hers

I usually travel business for the room. I did fly Sydney-LHR-Sydney first class one time (using points lol). Honestly, it's not worth the cost. The big difference is between economy and business not business and first.

Hi Cheryl, My brother, his wife and their son have just left for NYC after spending a few days with me in Upstate NY. They brought the tuna pasta bake sachets with them so I'll be trying that soon :) It was a special holiday for them celebrating three big family milestones, so they treated themselves to Upper Class on Virgin out of Manchester. I would love to be able to travel like that. It looked fabulous. Once in a lifetime, maybe, but they said it was well worth the extra. Susan xx

I had to laugh at my husband as I watched this. He said, "She came all the way from Scotland to see NYC and we grew up less than an 8 hour drive and never been there." I said, "Would you like to see NYC?" He looked horrified, "Oh good lord NOOOOO! to many people." 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When we went to New York we were upgraded to business class! It was wonderful and yes, the food was lovely. Coming back, we didn’t get an upgrade and the difference in the food was very noticeable. Such a fascinating city and I’m not surprised you’re planning to go back next year x

@@WhatsForTea I never have before and most probably never will again! We got seats 1a and 1b and it was just fantastic. Always worth asking for an upgrade when you get to the airport, but, if you start saving those pennies, you can just book business class and know that’s where you’re going to be 👍

Next time you go to Olive Garden, with your meal you get soup or salad. Try the chicken gnocchi soup, soooo good. The lasagna is yummy!!❤❤❤

I just want to say I’m so happy you all enjoyed your visit,and plan to return.I am English born,and raise,I have lived in NYC,and also just across the river in NJ,and I hate it when so many people in the UK have unpleasant things to say about NYC,and most of them have never been here.I hope next time you try to stay away from the chain restaurants,and try the real food,NY has some of the best cheap restaurants,and some of the most expensive,next time just google good cheap restaurants,and it will take you to lots of different web sites,that list places for wonderful food from all over the world.Everything is easy to get too on the subway,or bus.Again happy you enjoyed.😊

Im glad you confirmed the Magnolia copycat recipe is the same! You're out here doing the Lord's work, Cheryl! 😅 Give that crew member a shoutout by name, she deserves it! Way above and beyond! She must be in UK, then. I think the only thing people could fault you for is going to the same restaurant twice, when you're in the middle of Manhattan and there are so many options! Sometimes, the fun of New York, at least what I miss from the days when my friend lived in Brooklyn, are the places that you find qhen you just are wandering, decide you're hungry, and stumble across something unknown. And here's something just to make you jealous of us for a change. When I was in graduate school, I temped my way through summers to pay the bills. One of my last temporary jobs was at a bakery. We would get orders for the Olive Garden When I asked a co-worker about it, they pointed out that the Olive Garden breadsticks were made there at the bakery and you could buy them at the supermarket, just with a different label on them. Sure enough, I started buying them at the supermarket, and then just dusting them with a little bit of garlic salt and butter, and they were exactly the same! I'm no longer tempted by the breadsticks when I go there, not that I go there very often. I haven't been to one in years.

Cheryl on your next trip to USA I suggest booking Jet Blue Mint Business Class, I sure you'll enjoy their service, as much I did.

Glad you had a great time ! Business Class or even Premium Economy (depending on airline) is a world of difference from standard Economy seating. First Class, in my opinion isn't really worth it the extra money (unless you have a ton of points to burn! or are travelling a much longer distance) Depending on the airline Business Class can offer lie flat seats, and for journeys over 8 hours can be worth the extra money and leave you in much better shape after the long flight.

We love NYC.. Been 3times each time close enough to walk to Time Square.. It’s an amazing place isn’t it…All if it is….. I live in New England, so a 4 hour drive from NYC. I always enjoy my occasional visit there, but I recommend visiting Boston as well! Closer flight to the UK as well. I will be visiting Glasgow for the first time this September!

Ok, the next time you go to NYC you need to go to Little Italy and have real real Italian food. So much food prepared at Olive Garden is frozen and microwaved. Real pizza at a pie shop and so many deli’s and bakeries and oh my.

Love you and so glad you had a great time. At first I was absolutely horrified that you ate at Olive Garden with all the thousands of local places to eat. I would avoid eating anywhere near Times Square but then I got it. If you are seeing it from the across the pond I understand the curiosity. But when you come back give your fans a heads up and we can give you some recommendations if you want. ❤ And just returned from narrowboat holiday in Wales and ate so many steak pies!!

I came to Englewood in 1965,and also lived in Tenafly,my favorite thing to do on my days off was take the bus to NY,I have always loved it,I spent 30 years in NJ ,and the last 29 years in Queens,still love this City.🌆

OMG those New York prices are crazy.. You need to take out a loan just to eat there... We stopped going to restaurants since the pandemic. Prices are so outrageous now.. Example if you go to McDonalds and get the Big Mac Meal that use to be under $6 is now $12 or higher

It wasn't cheap...but we didn't find it any more expensive than any other big city 🙂 We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton Times Square West. It was a 10 minute walk from Times Square itself. It's quite a reasonably priced hotel 💕

Look at Norse airlines....the business class is amazing and much cheaper than Delta etc...Our daughter is in Largs Scotland and we fly Norse...

Cheryl, what airport did you fly from. Does Delta fly from there, they have the best seats with more space , Premium class and for a really good price. I fly only Delta from JFK to Ireland. I find from check in to land they are great staff and very pleasant and extremely helpful. The price of business I would rather spend the money having fun. This was lovely thank you.
