Rice, in particular Basmati and Jasmine, our grandmother used to say 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water and then 1 to 1 for every additional cup after that. Wash your rice till the water runs clear(ish) about 3-4 times. My little addition is to fry the rice in a little butter tablespoon or so depending on how much rice, i use a tablespoon for 2 cups of rice) before adding the needed amount of water. Cheryl please try this as well as your own version and see what you think

Doing good Cheryl, that hotel suite looked rather lovely. I agree with you re fish and chips dont have it too often but when I do I really enjoy it. Living in a seaside town down in SE Kent there is nothing better than fish and chips on the beach listening to the waves coming in.

We have bangers and mash n beans …cowboy tea we call it…on Tuesday.. I have veggie sausage for slimming world 1.5 syns Dessert at the spa looked lush…. I can’t do the korma’s or curry…hubby doesn’t like it..I just about get away with a chilli..but not to often..!lovely room..and bathroom…wow🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤭🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Thank you, a lovely week of meals. I have discovered that not all Basmati rice is the same. The stuff I bought at the supermarket is ok, but the better quality ones I buy from the Asian Supermarket are amazing. They vary so much in price, and quality, and it is very much obvious when you cook it up.

I keep meaning to mention whenever you say you like a bit of spice - there's some folk not *too* far from you who make really nice hot sauces called 'Ooft! Sauce' (which is a great name!). The chipotle one is nice and smokey, the Scotch Bonnet one is proper hot. Worth a look if you're after a bit of heat! (and I should say - I'm not the owner or anything - just really like their stuff!)

Great video Cheryl. Happy 60th mr whats for tea. Wow wow wow , that room is fantastic, i woukd love to stay there. And the food looked amazibg but so did your home cooked meals. I love chilli & its a dish that i do crave & seeing yours , i want 1!! The chicken korma did you do it in the slow cooker ? Theat looked so nice. And your soup & rolls which almost looks like a gourmet meal , just looks lovely. I really like leek & potato soup so am looming forwatd to seeing the video. I mafe 1 of your recipes yesterdsy cheryl, the potato gratin, think it was from a couple years ago. I have made it before but that was a quite a while ago so did it again yesterday, &bit didnt dissapoint, it was delicious. Its great to see where you go on your little breaks etc , glad you enjoyed yourselves

Chili on rice is a little unusual in the southwest US, but I'm from Ohio so I'm a fan of Cincinnati Chili (chili on spaghetti covered with shredded cheddar cheese) so chili on rice actually sounds good to me.

The Gailes looks like a lovely place and so near where my ancestors came from (Saltcoats, Stevenston)...I want to try a curry dish. We don't do the curries here in Michigan the way you do - but I love Asian foods so hopefully if the spice is mild I can handle it! Cheers!
