How does the bounce of the club effect these chip shots and what is more preferable a higher ie 12 degree or lower 8 degree bounce angle? I would assume it has a great deal of significance as the intention is for it to interact with the ground before the ball.

Really liked the scene change and title graphics - traditional rather than gimmicky. I hope future videos in this plan will cover the rough around the greens. The fairway chipping technique (you have this technique in previous shot fixing videos) has worked really well for me - down to 10% bad shots from 50%, but I'm still rubbish in the rough. I was going to say write rubbish out of the rough but I leave so many shots still in the rough that it's better to write rubbish IN the rough!

My coach has recently taught me that leading edge chip shots are the most effective around the green: grip down, club is the extension of the left hand, only shoulder movement, no legs. What do you reckon? Also, I probs would have touched on the bump and runs at the club selection part, I prefer my 8iron when Ive got loads of green to work with. What club would you use for that? Btw Ive been following you for 5 years now and learnt a lot of great stuff feom u so many thanks and keep going guys!
@hedda91703 жыл бұрын
Great video! Does this method work with a gap or pitching wedge or do you need a club with more bounce to hit the ground first? I carry a 58, 54 and gap. Thanks.

Thanks gents! Been waiting for this. Quick Q: i use a very low grip to increase my control. I noticed Andy holding the club as usual. Is hand placement something I should work on?
@meandmygolf.4 жыл бұрын
Hi Niren. Thanks for the question. Nothing wrong with choking down on the club. If it helps do it. I don't do it but I just feel comfortable keeping it the same for each chip

How do you create check on short chips around the green?
@jacobmccain80824 жыл бұрын
4 things help. 1. Newer wedge with clean grooves 2. Urethane ball 3. Speed 4. Crisp contact at the ground just before the ball. Also generally your hands finishing low and left lends to check more than finishing right which should lend to topspin/more roll out. Both are helpful shots to have.

Are you guys redefining golf shot terminology? I've always thought a chip shot was a low flight, where the ball just clears the uneven surface and then rolls out to the hole. What Andy was playing is a high flighted ball, with limited roll; otherwise known as a pitch shot.

Your comment about leaning on the left side referred to your front leg, but the video highlighted the left side from our view, or your back leg, which would be incorrect. FYI
