I hope you are all safe and well guys! I actually filmed this video early this year but didn't upload it, since it felt like a frivolous topic to talk about when we are in the middle of a pandemic. Every time I watch your videos on books, I am overtaken by this sudden urge to buy/rent more books for my son! You review the books so well and provide inputs from your end to make it simple for parents like me to choose the next set of books for their children. My son is 19 months old and loves his books, some of them are the ones you have suggested in your previous videos. Having done a book haul recently, I will try to somehow hold myself back for a few months. With libraries shut down and used book stores non-operational, its been tough...but I am somehow getting some of the books you mentioned in the video for sure! Thanks Vidhya! Two of my son's favorite books with a message are: Elephant in the Tree by Mallika Nagarajan and Gatila by Anjora Noronha and Lisa Dias Noronha. I like the way they get across the messages of environmental pollution and discrimination, respectively. As for my son, he loves the colorful illustrations and whatever he can make out of the stories for now...

Hi Vidya, Great selection of interesting unique books. Love your passion for books. My toddler (1.5 yr old) is fascinated with the book : The magic of me. Loves the illustrations of kids doing different things and naming objects on every page. Calls it me me book ! With everything going on in this world how do you expose your child to racial diversity ? Do you have any book recommendations specifically geared towards inclusion of Indian origin kids. Thank you for the book recommendation, sounds like a lovely one! To be honest I haven't broached the subject of racism with my 3 year old. I think he is blissfully unaware of the differences between people. So although everyone on social media is urging parents to talk about race with their young ones, I'm going to wait to introduce such ideas to him, when I feel he's ready to understand concepts like inequality. Until then we are exploring cultures, foods, landmarks and animals from around the world!

You can start now, it's a great way of bonding with your baby. Read books that you find enjoyable, and books with high contrast pictures. Many suggestions in my baby book videos, do check those out. Congrats and welcome to the tribe!

The children's illustrated atlas by DK is good, but i didn't really introduce concepts like countries to my son at toddler age. It is complicated for them so I stuck with mostly nature books and observing the environment.

I wish I could, but I really haven't tried any regional language kids books. I hear Tulika and Pratham are Indian publishers but haven't tried them yet. Let me know if you find any!

5-10 minutes is typical attention span for a toddler that age, they really need to move! It gets longer as they get older.
