Hi Josh. You are now in the rabbithole of MP🤣. My first reaction on his cover was about 4 years ago and my reaction was similar to yours.😁 To Marcelitos personality: Marcelito Pomoy was orphant at the age of about 4, when his father was in jail and his mother left him. He lived on the streets. cleaned shoes etc. To challenge his live, singing was a part. Then a police-officer adoptet him. As a teenager he explored that he can sing tenor and soprano (male and female). He is selfthougt in singing. At the age of about 18 he was the winner of the Philipines got Talent (Season 2) and shocked his nation with his abillity doing a duett by himself. After his triumph he became very famous in the Philipines and around in Asia. He is able to sing in more than 5 languages. In 2019 he was part of AGT the Champions and made 5th place. There he performed several duetts (the prayer, time to say goodbye, beauty and the beast). Well known are also covers from "Despasito", "never enough" (from the movie Greatest Showman) an "The power of love" (cover as Celine Dion at the Whishbus). He also sang a really great duett with Morisette Amon at the 2nd Wihish Award (Cover of "secret lovesong" from Little Mix). Very funny is a television-show where he switched the voices on command (search the word remote-control). he had to switch extremly fast, partly after each one word. It was so funny to watch this video of the show. Since AGT he is the most time of the year on tour and and all his concerts are "sold out" after a few days. He toured inPhilipines, Malaysia, Japan, China, USA, Australia, Hawaii. He is married and has two beautiful daughters. He is a very grounded and humble person and helped during the Covid-pandemic in his country with charity-concerts and used his status to get food and medical material from other countrys to help his nation (city). It's normal for us to sing. Every household has a karaoke machine. Singing is just a part of our daily lives. When we were toddlers, we were taught how to sing. When you go to the Philippines, wherever you go, you can see or find very good singers! 🔥🇵🇭🎤

Marcelito Pomoy had a very hard childhood his parents divorse at his early age and he and his siblings was given to relatives so they can have a better life but he didnt so growing up he did a lot of odd jobs like construction he has no voice training at all and he cant afford it anyways just his meal to survive on one ocassion while he and his co-worker having a drinking session he was ask to sing and they are all surprised to hear his voice so he was encourage to join some competition as they know he has a chance and also told him that that may be his way to see his parents and siblings he love and missed so much so thats what he did but when he sees that there is a bigger stage and bigger purse "Pilipino Got Talent" he hope that this stage will make way of his wish to re-unite his family and he did as the contest progress he becomes popular and slowly some of his siblings comes out that inspired him to win. After winning the contest and got the big price he re-unite his family but greed came in that it seems impossible to make it happen as his mom and his eldest sister wants a bigger chunk of the price money and still dont want to reconsile with his father. Seeing this he becomes disappointed and in the end focus on building his own family which he did. He is a very down to earth person he does not like limelight thats why you will notice with his talent he seems to be unknown because he seldom go on TV as he loves to be still his normal self with family and new found friend in his neighborhood happy for simple things singing in karoeke near their place that who he is. HE was just convince by his wife to join "America's Got Talent" later to prefer for her daughters future. He was a favorite he aced every performance. But with a twist he was kick out of the finals in favor of a dance group and people are disappointed even the judges except Simon, he gave it a chance as his wife wishes and they are not lucky a lot of conspiracy theories but he accepted it and back to his normal life with ocassional invitation when he has time but for him family first as thats what he missed since chldhood. 😔 Do checkout his performance at AGT ( America's Got Talent ) and decide for yourself.
