How To Make A Barn Birdhouse

Welcome to Mean's Woodshop! Today we're making the barn birdhouse. The construction of the house itself is made using plywood, with thin strips of cedar cut to create slats over the whole thing. The rest is pretty much only limited by imagination. You can go all out, or keep it simple. Most of the extra details I added were made just using scraps that were laying around the shop.
I got the main bird hole off-center because the house couldn't fit directly under my drillpress, though from the angle I was standing it looked centered.
This is a really fun project that could bring some friendly wildlife to your home. I’d encourage you to try it as it really frees the mind to go all out.

Fantastic. Beautiful. I am building one but it will be for the porch away from the elements. The idea came when I got a bunch of leather samples with different colors that I will try to cover the whole birdhouse with. I think the method of using the pilot holes is very good. Thank you for sharing

The problem with your birdhouse is that Squirrels will easily climb the tree stump, access the house and either eat the Eggs or the baby birds. Too few consider this outcome.
