Good comparison HT! I do have the Meater, and I've never had any problems. But, I'm rarely too far from the grill or oven. My instant read is Chefs Temp, and it's great! Thanks for the review!

Thanks to the wifi connection on the Chefstemp, I have driven all the way across town and been able to monitor the cook. It does not read the ambient temperature accurately, but the protein temp is spot on. I can live without the ambient temp but I need the accuracy on the protein and the range so the Chefstemp wins.

Of course the ChefsTemp is not going to lose connection as long as you have a cell signal. This really wasn’t an equal comparison.

to me wifi means you can monitor the temp from any where in the world. why did they lose connection? ever wireless i own lucky to go 200 feet. but its blue tooth. chefstemps always my go too hand held..

In theory yes, I have the much cheaper inkbird probes, which are wired probes but have WiFi. And I have a Masterbuilt smoker which has WiFi. Both apps will randomly lose connection. My smoker is well in range of the router and have a good connection. But the connection comes and goes for both. I don’t know if it’s they have a crappy WiFi chip or it’s the apps that are bad and causing the drops. Whatever the case it’s annoying. With that said they both work the majority of the time. But when they decide to not work it’s very annoying lol

Tommy, I havent read the other comments, but did the CTP2 keep connection THROUGH the walls? I understand open air connection is solid, but what about through walls?
