Great video Tommy! Gad I found your channel and look forward to learning a lot from you! I literally just put my brand new 1150 together yesterday and fired it up for some quick burgers! I went with the 1150 because I am just beginning my smoking adventure and felt it was close enough to the XT that i didn't need to spend the extra $500. I have done a ton of research and when I learned the 1150 shares the new hopper ceramic tiles as the XT I was sold! Looking forward to my first real cook, just need to decide what I'm doing for the Super Bowl party I'm hosting...GO BIRDS!

Tommy, i just started using the masterbuilt 800 and im not getting much smoke in the cooking chamber. Im using kingsford briquettes without any wood chunks. When i open the hopper it is completely filled with smoke. I would think the smoke would naturally find its way in the cooking chamber. I get some but not much. When i open the lid on the cooking chamber no smoke comes out really. The fan is working correctly and the tunnel connecting the hopper to cooking chamber is clear. I got some smoke coming out the back last time for 15 min or so then it stopped. The charcoal was definitely lit and i kept enough in hopper. Any advice? Just seems if hopper is filled with smoke it would find its way into cooking chamber and would see it coming out the back as well as when i open lid of cooking chamber. Thanks

Making it today in the UK wales actually. 2 baby back ribs on the WSM I will update afterwards to let you know how it went. Can't wait. Update in the sauce after making it: it was great I followed the recipe but I needed to swap the jack Daniels number 7 for the honey version as I didn't have the original when I made it. Top marks mate the sauce was great and thank you for the recipe uts a keeper. 😋

Tommy, great review man. I went ahead and ordered the XT. Really pains me those A-holes charge that much. Ridiculous the XT is that much more? C'mon. But I know I would regret not going with the XT. I think those snuff out bars on the 1150 are super cheesy man. Dang

Nice comparison video! I’ll stand by that the best bang for your dollar will undoubtedly be the Costco version of the Gravity 900 that also comes with a pretty well built pizza oven, all for $650. Practically all the same features as the two you just reviewed, and a $300 to $700 cheaper depending on the 1150 or XT.

They pounce on most pellet smokers, but the wood wind pro and lone star pellet grill is up there with the rarely fed smokers.

Maybe the Lone Star comes close, That said. The Gravity fed will take it to school from grilling to smoking.

Smoked a 2.5lb chuck where I wrapped it in butcher paper at the stall. But I'm going to try this method with my second chuck roast Sunday.

He shows cleaning his 1050 - they clean pretty much the same - 15 minutes like he said - that 1150 manifold is nice - you can pull top and vacuum easier - grease management is superior on the MB - after I clean I fire up to push moisture out of my 1050 - just enough heat and time to dry it up

LSS mods makes a Griddle for the XT. I believe it fits the 1150 also. I have his ashbox tray mod as well as the Water box he sells on my XT and love them.

My 1050's all have a double wall lids. It's the 560 and 800's that are single paper thin lids.

Do the XT & 1150 have a better gauge double wall construction - I have a 1050 - love my 1050 but these 2 seem more sturdy in the cook lid chamber area

Great comparison!! Answered all my questions!! I personally wish they’d left cast grates on the bottom of the XT, but I still think that’s my upgrade path from my 5 yr old 1050. Thanks!

Clarification for the 1150 - the grease pan and tray both come out from the front. Everything is front facing which is ideal. Also, the lower slide just pulls out and stores with the upper slide in the right hand door. Which is also where the meat probes store. Anyway, putting the lower slide back in after a cook is trivial. Not hot and not an issue.

And Tommy, don't get me wrong. I'm not picking on you. Just wanted to clarify in case anyone had concerns about the 1150. I've had mine a week now and so far it's been truly great. I think you'll like it over the 1050 once you get a few cooks on it.

This is interesting...basically a redesigned 1050, just larger with storage. If I were MB, I would give the XT the storage of the 1150. Ahh - it's the price point. I still rock my 1050 from time to time, especially with bigger cooks. On smaller cooks, my little Auto Kamado Akorn gets the ticket. Most efficient pit I have ever used. All that said, I may sell my modded 1050 and rock the XT

Hey Tommy… quick question… I have an XT and love it and how it cooks… but in cold weather I get a drip of moisture in the left rear corner and as it drips it builds up an icy column on long cooks.. have you heard of this issue ? I have to break it off and throw it away or it melts later and makes a smoky wet mess on the bottom shelf

Thanks for this comparison Tommy. With the improvements, you have me wanting to possible buy one of these. I got rid of my previous og 560 because of the problems, but I absolutely luv'd the food it produced. Sounds like these may have sorted those problems I found with them, not everyone had problems of course.
