Another one!! Highlight of my day as I’m still trying to recover from illness and get back to the gym, work and a normal life again. It’s been almost four years now since I got sick and I’ve spent a lot of time in the darkest of the darkest depths. I remember the times were I couldn’t even see family or friends in like two years cause I was bedridden most of the time. This podcast made me laugh in times were I hadn’t even smiled in many, many months. It gave me something else to think about than just the pain and the struggles I faced and still face every single day. It gave me a feeling of just hanging out with the boys and having a good time with friends. This podcast is the best thing on the internet. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart Fouad. Thankyou to all the boys making BC and BB&B what it is. This podcast really means the world to me.

The nostalgic feeling of what the gym meant to me when I was 13 years old feelings like an incredible blessing, I can always think back to that feeling.. I saw people with a Goodlife fitness bag and thought It was the coolest thing on the planet and wanted to be part of It, I was already training at home but joining that gym changed my life and gave me an identity.. I love that so many others find an identity within fitness but It's hard to not just wish It was like how It used to be lol

I'm a personal trainer at my University and always teach the science based approach to all exercises. I utilize a lot of fixed movement for injury and isolation purposes. Now in my heart I feel like i'm doing a disservice to my clients because of the lack of results I've seen in my own physique (consistent resistance training & diet over the past 5 years). I was a 4 sport athlete in high school, and a military vet now so I've always been active and know my body pretty well and what it means to push myself. I have never felt better in the gym and seen more progress then when Ive allowed my body to move a little and decide just to forget a lot of the scientific minutia that's been hammered into my from textbooks and social media. Mike's methodology hits a lot of points I've always felt. But never know how to put into words. This podcast and hearing Mike talk gives me tangible things I can take to my clients and be able to more accurately describe now. Now I'll never be the level of trainer Mike is but I can make an effort to learn as much as possible from all of you. This podcast means more to me than you know. Thank you fellas.
@xarbsweet9652

Mike’s idea that 98% of things don’t move in complete isolation is more backed by science than people that think otherwise tbh

when i listen to make talk about training and movements it literally feels like i’m taking drugs, there isn’t a human being i’ve heard or seen that can explain movement patterns the way he can, in such an intricate but yet simple palatable way. it gives an unreal high of excitement to go train and try and implement what he’s saying into my own training. just using the work “rocking” when talking about movement is such a perfectly fitting way to understand and visualise exactly what something should look like. i hope to be able to train with him one day

It's a shame what's happened to gym culture. I'm 26, so I'm basically the last generation that even remembers that "hardcore" or old-school style bodybuilding. Some of my fondest memories are with my training partner in college, just finding ways to kill eachother each workout. We loved training quads together. If my partner got 10 on leg extensions, I knew I had to do 12. Always pushing eachother. Supersetting barbell squats with box squats with lunges. Every single workout we said "how can we kill ourselves today!". It definitely, absoultely was not "optimal" like all these pencil pushing nerds talk about these days. But damn was it the most fun I've ever had in the gym, and we taught ourselves to truly push as hard as we could for that hour and a half we were there. I just got back home from a training session, and the gym was dead quiet. You could hear a pin drop in there. Everyone hunched over their phones, no atmosphere, no one pushing eachother to do better. Tripods, scrolling tiktok for 10 minutes between the set, then right back to it after the set it over. As much as you guys might not like talking about the old days, I really appreciate it. Thanks for keeping that spirit alive in me

Totally get what you’re saying no one pushes themselves In gym anymore I’m seeing people go way too light no intensity people on their phone some don’t even workout just talk the whole time. Not saying you can’t talk to your friends or whatever I talk to mine but at some point you still got get your workout in. There’s some days we’re it literally feels like I’m the one In there going hard. And they wonder why they don’t get results. You need to train hard!
