WOW. This is amazing. I've been riding Over 40 years and would never think of riding my BIG off road. I would love to be able to take a course like this. Thank you sharing and also Thank you for your service.

I would love to take this course - super dynamic conditions and looks like a lot of fun too. Also the video is quite entertaining, it starts off with rookies who can barely stop without falling over, then your're riding single track in parks and suddenly you guys are launching the grassy hill and going through deep sand. If normal citizens did most of this to improve their skills on their bikes we would be arrested and charged with reckless driving :-( Props to Stamford, CT MC PD too, caught one of their bikes in here.

My friend is a motorcycle officer in the CHP, he and his family went to a fundraiser and his daughter entered a raffle and the grand prize was a choice between 12k or a 2-year-old Street Glide. She won and took the Street Glide. At first, he thought she was kidding when she told him, then they asked if he wanted to ride it home for her.

Hi meaty ! I am a motorcycle cop in France. I was glad to see your video. the motorcycle school is different here ( like we don't ride the bike we will ride on duty ! we had gears during the training) How long is that motorcycle school? Thanks again ! Benjamin
@MeatyPetey7 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben! Our motorcycle school is 10 days long. Ours is certified by the state of New York but there are many other schools throughout the country and even NY state. I've heard of some as short as 5 days and others as long as 15 days. How long was your school? Do you wear a different patch that shows you are a Motor officer once you graduate? How did you come across my video? Think it's really cool that it's being viewed as far away as France! Stay safe brother!
@bentoucourt7 жыл бұрын
hey !!! Thanks for the answer. The motorcycle school is 15 weeks long, but yes the 1srt and last weeks are not dedicated to training, but more for administrative (1rst) and demonstrations skills for the show at the end of school. As the french police is organized like the FBI in your country, our school give us the opportunity to work in all part of the country... We had to back to school each 5 years, for a week, to check that we are able to ride strongly enough. We are not paid more for being a motorcycle ! The only nice part of being a motorcycle cop into the french national police force, is that we are not allowed to work out of our motorcycle squad. We can't drive ! only ride! We are not pedestrian cop ! How did I see you vid? I like to see other country motorcycle cops, particulary your country, because yours uniforms are nice ! (I like the Rhode Island trooper uniform !) guys on russian forum are interested why don't they use protective equipment, like elbow or knee pads Meaty Petey, can you tell us please?
@MeatyPetey7 жыл бұрын
I can't really speak for the policies of each department regarding safety equipment beyond what is required for my personal agency. They require we wear a helmet, eye protection and gloves. Any officer can use additional equipment if they'd like and many wear riding jackets with added protection or heavy leather coats in the winter. Sorry I can't answer the question better.

These are terrible bikes. I rode my brothers $15,000 ultraglide a couple of decades ago and it was the least competent motorcycle I have ever ridden. No clearance, frame tubes like a schwinn, nasty shimmy while cornering, horrible vibrations and it was unstable at low speeds. The only upside was the comfort, the heated grips and the cassette deck. Why are these terrible bikes used for such a vital job? I hope the discount is steep. If someone wants to sponsor my old ass crushing their course on a ktm adventure with saddle bags and appropriate radio and equipment weight it would be fun. Thanks in advance.

Each Department selects what motorcycle the officers ride. Different departments ride different motors. Kawasaki, BMW, Victory as well as Harley's are the popular choices. Most of the riding is done on pavement and the HD is a popular choice in the Northeast. BTW it's 'Merica
@V--N7 жыл бұрын
If those guys can handle HD like that - i just can't imagine, what they can do with BMW GS ))
@MrWolfSnack5 жыл бұрын
And you need a bike that can handle all the police gear and still stay balanced on the road. You try putting all that kit on a motocross dirtbike for example and it will handle like a single speed bicycle loaded with sunday newspapers.
