That Universal charge bar is the bomb…my favorite thing for shot shell reloading…takes up little space on the bench (a coworker gifted me one about 25 years ago along with a MEC 600 Jr. before he retired from the railroad)…he said I should stop using the LEE 🙂🙂🙂

Evenin' CW! I remember, back in the day, everybody around mehad a MEC 600. I never did try one out. I bought one and before I could get it set up our house burned. Lost my Savage model 99, and my Wingmaster 12 gauge in that fire. Thanks for passing on the knowledge on this.

The company that made that charge bar is out of business and the prices for used ones are CRAZY...$85 plus shipping and up! When I bought my MEC 600jr. I searched and searched for one... but they cost more then the press I bought(I only paid $50 10 years ago). So I just took the larger powder bushings and used some JB weld and filled them and drilled them out to the sized I needed. I love the press.. it is simple and fast. One day I may see about getting a 20ga conversion for it... I shoot the 12ga a lot less these days.

@@cw2a Yes it will be cheaper. I sold two five round boxes of 10 GA buck shot in 2020 for $40.00. It was the 5rds Federal Premium 10ga Copper Plated 00 Buckshot. That was cheap at $4.00 per shell. I don't know if it is still that high or if prices have come down, but either way with you loading your own it will certainly be cheaper.

Been a while sense I made any shotshells. shotgun rounds are a whole other world as far as ammo craft. It's nice having a shot maker for my shooting, hopefully in a year or so I can get back out there and do some trap, peace out - Dave

Awesome video cw the big 10ga but a hurting on waterfawl and deer with slugs. Lot turkey hunters and vermint hunters run them also with 4 buck shot i think.

The MEC presses are great, I have 4, 12 & 20 are complete and I use them, the other 2 are in the process of conversion to 28 & 410. I don't use the powder drop or shot feature because birdshot is of little interest to me.

Haha. I sold a Ithaca 51 auto when the 3.5" 12 came out & bought a 870 Supah magnum. I like it but wish I kept that 51!!! It slayed geese!!! ( Ill show my age a little... But I was also allowed ta use lead then too. By the time the 3.5/12 came ta be everything was non toxic.)

I use, and I’m a really big fan of the single shot 10ga. I find it not that bad. As a matter of fact I really enjoy slugs from that ol’ girl..!! True if your not firm on hold, mount and nerves after about 4-5 it’ll bruise you up some, hehe. But with experience you can get a box in before you turn blue.
