Thanks for the mention Dave! Yeah the #6 suddenly started hitting me and I have no idea why... That last rejoin gave me a meatball and I said on the radio I'd got a meatball, but when I then headed into pitlane he slammed his brakes dead in front of me on the entry waaaaay before the cones and I bumped him again! 🤷 I have recorded the footage but I've not put a vid out as I don't like to single people out! Anyway... Glad I carried on and picked up some spots and managed to not get lapped by you! Congrats on the podium 🎉

What's a meatball in this context ? I just got into this last year and haven't encountered the term before. I couldn't really understand what the no.6 was trying to achieve either.

@@braveheart4603 a 'meatball' is a nickname for a black flag with an orange circle. This flag is waved at drivers who have an unsafe car and the stewards have called them into the pits for repairs or else they'll be disqualified. In this instance, that rejoin by the #6 damaged my wheel, hence I got the meatball flag and had to pit. Hope that helps!

Hey Dave, Try shifting the FF1600 at around 6800RPM. It runs out of breath a little after 6850 amd that and causes you to be a little slower if you run out the gears a bit much.

I just started iracing and decided to try this car/track last second with no practice or knowledge of the car/track, the car handles so much better than the damn mazda lol I qualified 9th and finished 4th with a fairly clean race, i ended up with 3 contact incidents from people turning into me on straights as I was passing. I think Ill be running these races a lot more now

Great racing with Jernej. How it should be done. Unfortunately, this combo is a crash fest. I got 21 incidents points in my first 3 races from other people's wrecks, spins and brake errors. Next two races I started from the back and let them murder themselves in front of me. Only then could I get positive points. To many blokes going faster than their ability allows this season. And Dave, I recommend checking out Edward Buchanan here on YT. His setups for the Ray are (imho) pretty sweet. Great drive mate.

I just started sim racing and have a few FF races under my belt at this track, it's fantastic, but my god, it looks like amateur hour behind you in this race....i know you said rev match is the culprit but i've never had that issue. To me it looks like everyone had way too much rear brake bias and then were hitting brakes too hard while turning and just looping the car around......funny that folks cant figure that out.

Edit: balls out pass through the chicane on lap 6!😊 What is your rear view mirror FOV? Oulton with smaller cars is great. With full size cars and that chicane in S2, it's pretty miserable IMO. Snetterton needs some attention iRacing

Nice racing on a great combo. I'm new to open setup and haven't made any adjustments yet. I'm kind of plateauing on this combo around a 1:40.8. I lack a bit of your bravery in the carousel and chicane, so there's probably a couple tenths there, but is the rest in the setup? How big of a disadvantage is running the baseline setup in these cars?

Very nice vid ❤... I have two questions as a beginne, why you do no Pedal shifting? Is it cause it is faster without auto clutch? And what is the reply setting where you See all those inchidents automaticly? 😅

I use the H pattern as that is what the real car has. I don't use any clutch assists as it's much slower (I did a video showing how much). You don't need the clutch in this car to shift as long as you either lift on the upshift or dip the clutch and blip/rev match on the downshift. To check the incidents it's Ctrl numpad 1 & 3 👍

Great video as always but I’m confused on how the transmission works in these cars. No clutch for downshifts but clutch for up shifts?

You have to unload the transmission on both up and downshifts. That can be achieved by letting off the throttle or dipping the clutch. It seems automatic when downshifting because you are already off the throttle and on the brake. It's functionally the same as lifting the throttle in that case.

Nope. I'm dipping the clutch on the upshift and blipping (without the clutch) on the downshift. This car has a dog box so no clutch actually needed to shift if you take the load off the gearbox 👍
