This is a good, fair review. The reviewer had fair criticisms about bugs but still gave a good score based on gameplay and story and because those things always get sorted after launch. He also used the classic tank controls, unlike other reviewers who used modern, FPS controls (the wrong way to play)

Lets just remember that roadmaps and post-launch "promises" are nothing more than a pinky swear. I envision a world were games release without game breaking bugs. We are so used to this work-in-progress system it doesn't even effect the review score anymore. 😢 These arnt indie games needing funds to get finished.

Piranha is known for patching, fixing and improving their titles. I had a blast with MW5 Mercs and MWO over the past few years. So glad they grew into this franchise the way they did. Respect.

Players have been asking for a campaign style game forever since mechwarrior online… so now we get finally get it from piranha…. Got it and played 3 hrs… i like and enjoy it so far… like paying for a movie and game in one… if you are a lifelong mechwarrior or battletech fan, support this game..

And yet they lock you into place, freeze you and your lance. The enemy on the other side has time to deploy and instantly shoots at you after that while you are now free to aim and move. That is just very stupid like how they did the spawn in thing in MW5.

I'm about 5 missions into it on PS5 and loving it. No bugs thus far, but the game has been patched since launch. The story is interesting, the customization is really good, and the gameplay is fun with various missions. For my money, its exactly what I wanted as a Battletech fan since '88.

​@@Vanadium I'm playing from start on mine pc and didn't have any sound problems. I just had some crashes during gameplay especially in menus. But I think I haven't seen one since fix . Need to play longer to check it becouse it was happening after 3-4 missions. And on work days I have time on 1-2 missions and didn't have crash yet. But really I have so much fun in testing setups. I love that I can play so long with timber wolf. I love this mech

IMO the scale still looks off to me. I don't think any of the modern MechWarrior games have really nailed the in-cockpit sense that you're steering a gigantic machine. It just kinda looks like a first person shooter with robots.

What happens when you finish the story is the game over or can you still replay missions? Also when the modders get up and running the game will have a completely different feel. I like it as a very long time MW fan, I started with the card game in the 90s. It definitely has some things I dont like, like only having 16 usable mechs, I would have liked it if we could salvage mechs and use them like in MW5: mercs

Yes there is a Sim Pod that allows you to repeat previous missions, it's in the ship menu where you level up your pilots

A great game not sure how many missions you get but i sure you get 500 x more you get with cod games lol i have played upto 4 missions and it petty good right now graphics are good even your AI friends are good helping you in missions the menus are a bit getting us to at the start but got use to it within a hour i not sure if it the same to you but some of my hud off screen try to use screen adjustment but it the same also i wish all the 4 main weapons system was rb,lb,rt,lt but it not you have to hold rb and press rt to change weapons which can be a pain all achievements are sp mode thank god but apart from that great game 8/10.

I will be buying this, but I'm waiting for a sale. From what I'm seeing, this game just doesn't warrant the 50€ price tag. I'm still loving the MW5 Mercenaries all modded up, and I can't see how Clans could be that much of an improvement. The emphasis on the storyline is not that big of a deal to me, even though I am intrigued to play through it eventually.

@@kukko83got a chuckle out of this comment. Games have been $50 forever. I looked up the original MechWarrior price from 1989 - $50, which would be over $150 today. Computers and computer games have gotten really cheap compared to 30 years ago

@@kukko83 I don't care if you buy the game or not - I just hadn't thought much about how cheap computer games are compared to the 80s until your post. I looked it up, MechWarrior in 1989 (which I did play) would retail for $130 in today's dollars. It feels like that are a lot more games now, and they are a lot cheaper. (Personally, I'm going to wait, because the game sounds buggy - this is something that never happened in the 80s because there was no way to update a game online, and it was probably easier to code for machines because they were not so different - e.g. we didn't have all these different graphics cards)

Really appreciated Piranha made a strong single player campaign. Too bad some important things remains the same from Mercenaries. The overall collosus feel is simply not there. Mechs are walking boxes in out of scale dioarama. Hopefully some patches and modders community make a difference. Modded Mercenaries set the level quite high. Overall I am happy for a new mech game. I would like to see more in this genre though :)

This game is a bit undercomplex in simulation terms, I guess consolification still leads to compromises. Then again this is still way better than MWO or MW5 Mercs. The best entry since MW3 or MWLL if you count it.

I think it's a lore thing. Clan smoke jaguar has this really weird cultural thing about making all their pronunciation really defined, and condemn what they view as lazy speech, such as using contractions, so all their words are kinda over pronounced.

Because it is a throwback to the original Name of Mechwarrior 2 before Activision remade into the Mech 2 we know of, you would play with all the clans in that game, the demo is still avaliable.

Bought the ps5 game on day one. The base feel of mercs is thrown out the window and a more arcade like feel is present even in the classic 'sim mode. The medium pulse lasers look and sound awful, like streams of green vomit. They were great in mercs. The PPCs don't feel impressive either and nor do the LRMs or SRMs. The unforgivable fault is that the mechs don't seem to have the same amount of detail as mercs. While was in charge of the modeling? Doesn't seem like it was the guy who did mercs as he did an incredible job on all counts. I didn't get mercs on day 1 so maybe these were all issues that were present there as well. It's looks like the majority of the effort went into the story telling animations where instead it should have been the gameplay itself. I'm sticking with it, albeit reluctantly but for battletech and the mw series goodwill in me.

if your friend dies he should not be able to get another mech solo play lost teammate is lost tell your friend to do a better job with damage soaking like torso twisting and if he is heavily damaged and others are not dont be the initiator. giving them another life to help is just bad
