So as a long time fan of the computer side of the franchise i've got mixed feelings on this game, but mostly good. Cons: 1) missions are very repeatative as they seem to be ransomly generated but fall under generic mission types with story line missions unlocking at milestones. 2) during these missions enemies are frequently spawned at very short distances (under 500m) and for me so far around 50% have spawned behind me. 3) sensors are completly LOS (line of sight) or friendly LOS. 4) you cant order teammates to move anywhere you dont have LOS. It hasnt been an issue so far but I can see it becoming one. 5) not sure if its possibly due to my rig or game issue but on the occasion enemies are visible at a decent distance (usually flyers) i cant get a sensor reading (nvm lock for LRMs) at beyond 900m. 6)nitpicking) all repairs take place on your dropship, but take longer if started in a conflict zone for some reason. Pros: 1)team AI is actually competent if you forget to order them around and the way skills are presented is understandable, though i'm not fond of the way it works. 2) Is very open ended in approach to contracts 3)mech customizing is more true to cannon though it is more limiting in some ways than i'd like (ie you can put smaller weapons on hard points but you cant usually mount a larger weapon by sacrificing other weapons entirely) 4) Contracts are ACTUALLY negotiable, in a sense. You get points based on how much the faction likes you with pay, salvage points and damage reimbursement being the only ones i've seen (still fairly early so there could be other options) 5) ACs have 2 varients to suit your style of shooting single slug or stream of shells, like a large Machine Gun. Conversely LB-X Acs have a solid slug variant, not ammo but an entire system (havent tried it yet). All in all i'm enjoying this game though i hope they change the spawn parameter for distance.

Nice callback to the original games back in the day. Mechwarrior on the NES, Mechwarrior 2 on the PlayStation, Mechwarrior 3 and 4 on the PC. The shot is identical to those in the beginning. Still, a trailer is just that. A trailer. I'm more interested in how you handle the lore of this genre. Just please, don't mess it up like with Mech Assault.

@@azo0ownz Yeah I like it despite some issues like enemies spawning near you, campaign not very good (low budget), most missions repetitive. The game also needs more content such as more mech variants and paint schemes like MWO. Hoping DLCs will come quickly.

@@aiden_macleod actually, as a physicist in the engineering field, it is my "strong suit". I'm also ex forces. 50 Tons of steel (like a tank in Basrah) vs a high rise building results in floor-by-floor damage because that's how buildings are constructed. Have you ever seen a car driven into a standard house? Does the entire building collapse? If a 100ft mech ran into a 10 story building it be would be a maximum of 100t vs 36,000t. A substantial portion of that would go into decelerating the mech and several thousand tons would fall upon it. I'm well aware that this is only a game but I find the building effects to be rather lackluster. Maths, Physics, engineering or common sense aren't really your strong suit are they? Fucking arse-felching casual.

Unfortunately, unless the developers code "Strafing" and/or "Torso locking", so you are always moving in the direction you want, then they will remain with low sales, like all the other games where they refuse to listen to the gamers. It's the ONE control that most of us have been asking for, and have all left this game for. Ignored, simply due to ignorance of, "Well, we don't want YOU to play it YOUR WAY. We want YOU to play it OUR WAY." Well, then YOU can pay YOUR OWN PAYCHECK, because unless YOU listen to US, then YOU will be another dead game that fades away, along with your paychecks, like the rest. What is so difficult about making the damn robots torso turn, walk and recenter, for those who want it done? These are not TANKS, which have two individual people controlling two independent motions. Vehicles which only have ONE operator, normally operate as ONE motion. If we want the damn torso unlocked, then we'll hold "FREE LOOK", which should be the upper-torso, not the guy in the cockpit, looking out a window. Now, that is a stupid control to waste time programming. Until then... Unless you like games that purposely make it more difficult to play, when it doesn't have to be, then you will love this game. If you like games where they have logical controls, like 98% of games from 1985+, then save the money, again... The programmers only solution to giving you back some control, is to force you to keep hitting one of two buttons, constantly, to realign your torso to your legs, or your legs to your torso. (A function that tanks don't have, but they added that, instead of making mechs walk normal or logical. Excuse being... "Well then how would you walk one direction while shooting in another?" Response, "Never!", or "When do you? More often than not? I highly doubt that. It is such a rare thing to do. People like to look where they are walking and normally stop to shoot, or simply run sideways.") P.S. The game actually is quite bad, for a game. Too many imposed, unneeded, limits and restrictions that just don't make sense. Graphics are totally reduced from anything they originally showed in any demo. Physics are off the chain and mostly comical. (From rag-doll robots that drop like, well, rag-dolls, not 100-ton mechs. To 100-ton mechs launching faster than anything with jump-jets, if it falls on the ground funny or a simple grenade lands nest to it.) Not to mention the horrible low-detail landscapes and scenery, closer to fallout-3 and less like anything you would expect from such simple geometry in a game released this year. However, the story is good, because, well, they didn't write it. The stuff they did write, like the dialogue, is comically a joke and severely immersion-breaking. If you were 8-12, you might think it is great. But, not many 12-yr olds are playing this game. It's mostly "fan-boys", of which, I was one... was, being the keyword. I WAS one, because I was hoping that someone would finally make a game like the way it was originally made. Unfortunately, no-one has ever done so. (Why buy the rights to a game or IP, if you are just going to throw it all out the window, make up your own junk, then slap stolen labels on them, from the IP. Oh, yeah, due to lack of having an imagination or an idea of their own. Because those are sooo limited.)

The AI has been pretty damn good actually. Had a Spider harass me and then hide behind a building waiting for me to close. When I did it tried to flank. The AI, especially the light mechs, really focus on flanking and taking out the most dangerous mech to them first.

It's good and the enemy AI is pretty brutal, constantly trying to outflank you, and if you don't play smart, you can get owned.

mcclendon1981 the AI is not the problem of this game. The spawning of enemies in your back is annoying. But the part in between mission where you are forced to run around your ship and are forced to chat with your crew is just a waste of time. The storytelling is also not good. Your „father“ gets killed by an assault force of 3 Mechs, one King Crab, one Hunchback and one Commando while he was in his Victor and you in a Centurion. He makes you run and faces the three alone and easily kills the Commando. You and him are supposed to be aces, so Victor + Centurion vs King Crab + Hunchback does not seem to be that bad odds.

Even on the lowest difficulty, it's hard. You just have to adjust your strategy and tactics accordingly.

My point still stands. Just practice Instant Action until you're as good as you need to be. I would suggest locating a Battletech field tactics manual, and learn strategies and tactics applicable to piloting a Mech. That's the best advice I can give you. Going into depth here would be too time consuming. Just practice.

Sadly this game is bland compared to MWO. Sure it has singleplayer but graphics, sound, and customization have been left out of the game. Just compare the two and you will see why i am upset. It took me longer to download MWO than it did for me to install, play it, then promptly uninstall. Customization is NOT left out of the game. You obviously haven't played the game and are purposefully spreading misinformation about something you know nothing about. @@aiden_macleod You can swap weapons (to a very limited extent) and heat sinks and jump jets. Also adjust the armor. That's it. Hell, MW4 from 15+ years ago had more customization than this. So yeah, customization IS left out of the game, at least to any meaningful extent. MW5 is inferior in every single way to MW4 except graphics. That's just sad.

Refunded Shooting things is enjoyable but everything else made me sad. Enemies spawning right next to you within line of sight, poor writing, poor voiceacting, outdated and partially ugly graphics, lame cutscenes ... is this a AAA Mechwarrior game or some indi developer paying homage? Fix all the technical issues and give me the option to skip the stupid (pseudo military) dialogue. Then I might re-buy it for 20.

ALL stores mark up the price of an item, then calculate a sale price then try to make you seem like you're getting a deal. Like those buy one get one free deals. They increase the price of the single item and then deduct half the price of the additional item and give you a sale price. They eliminate unsold surplus, make a profit and have a return customer who "Got a great deal." Everybody wins, but the store always wins more.

Please please use another platform. Epic games is utterly useless. It calls itself a store but it cannot process transactions. I have no issues with all the usual mainstream websites, Steam, GoG, origin, amazon etc but the epic launcher is an amature effort and prevents quite a lot of people from ordering, often in countries they claim to be able to support. Worse, in my case I live between several countries and it cannot cope with that at all. I was very much looking forward to MW5 but I cant access it.

I played MWO once. There was my team on one side of the screen and the enemy was on the other. Everyone was just standing around and not doing anything. after about 5-minutes and beginning to get bored, I decided to initiate SOMETHING and ran onto the battlefield. EVERY enemy blasted me and I died. I promptly uninstalled the game and never looked back. Yeah, MWO sucks ass.
