This was such a good speech! I love how Lisa always stays neutral and gives zero opinions, it speaks to everyone on the political spectrum and gives no chances to make assumptions about her beliefs, so all you can do is listen to what she has to say rather than judge. So proud of you girl!💜

True. If you can separate the facts from the emotion- you then have the truth, plain and simple. It also helps to have some knowledge of psychology which is one of the best tools for judging the facts regarding the human dynamics at play in the political arena. In this day and age, the ability to judge someone's character is more valuable than the discernment of policies and agendas, which are mere smoke screens.. Critical thinking IS KEY. Thankyou for your talk!

I’ve been following Lisa for a while. I’ve always loved her for her fact-based journalism. So many great points in this talk. We all need to be more aware of bias in the media we consume and broaden our intake. The divisiveness that media echo-chambers have caused is a big problem in our country and the entire world. Confirmation bias is very real. We all need to think critically about the info we intake and always be careful to form our opinions based on facts, not feelings. Always consider the source.

Enjoyed your talk. I am concerned about the evolution of journalism and the bias media these days. We just need the facts. Journalist are obsessed with the story rather than facts and my opinion the mainstream media is destroying the country.

Hello Lisa, I just finished watching your TED talk. I hadn’t done it earlier because I wanted to make sure I had the time and attention to fully focus on you and what you had to say. Unfortunately, we often don’t put much trust in journalists these days, but your talk has significantly changed that misconception for me. Many professionals today have chosen to set aside objectivity in favor of subjectivity, which is incredibly damaging to information, as it ultimately misleads those who genuinely seek reliable facts to form their own opinions. I was truly impressed by your perspective and greatly appreciate how clearly, yet powerfully, you explained the distinction between opinion and fact, as well as the importance of discerning the information we receive. Thank you very much

First of all I so appreciate you waiting for the right time to take in this information. I always feel it's best to listen when you're in the right head space. I also appreciate how much what I said resonated with you and I am so glad it made sense. I hope more people take the time and watch it like you did. Thank you.

The problem is that every newspaper and media presence is deemed fake or unreliable by all. How can we decipher what’s a good source from a bad one
@sew696dan3 ай бұрын
I've started fact checking EVERYTHING I hear and read before repeating it and it's exhausting. Just looking for the proper context is hard especially when Google searches don't help. When trying to check some claim that Harris makes, many times Google only returns reports about Trump. Even when using From: To: filters and " " or ( ) Google often ignores them making it impossible to verify some things.
@andrewprice75053 ай бұрын
I do not disagree on any point made by this intelligent, well informed journalist, but a key point missed is that just before her time there was law called the Fairness Doctrine that had been repealed by Republicans. Generally speaking the Fairness Doctrine stipulated that any news broadcast or media outlet regulated by the FCC required that all sides of a political point of view be given equal time and access to the consumer so that they were well informed. Once cable came along ( a medium she seems to think was a benefit, it appears), it was not regulated the same as broadcast tv because the source of transmission and reception were privately owned. I would argue that the repleal of the Fairness Doctrine was the beginning of this mess she has so eloquently and succinctly expounded upon. It is good to see someone willing to hold up a mirror to all those around them and themselves. I agree that this mess is partially our fault as a society. Although since corporate media has learned how to isolate and manipulate the public, it will be difficult to reverse.

@Veronica120413 ай бұрын
She is very unbiased... if she has her opinions like a normal human being she does not tell us. That makes her unbiased. She tells us facts about both sides.
