Awful, awful, awful. That film killed any ongoing interest for me. The biggest problem now being that no matter what new stories they come up with, all roads lead to the god awful sequel trilogy.

This was also before Disney lost its mind and hopped on the woke train. The last thing to consider is that it was George who picked Kathleen Kennedy and she's the true problem. Darth Kennedy and the feminist force are the true villains of this story. So it wasn't really Lucas's selling of SW to Disney that was the mistake but having Kathleen Kennedy run it and in a way that made it difficult to fire her butt. Granted Bob Iger is also a woketard now but by including Kennedy in this, Lucas has tied everyones hands on fixing this. Disney/Marvel finally realized they were acting foolishly this past year and have begun the process of course correction. That can't be done with SW until a real world Obi-Wan takes down Darth Kennedy. Thanks to the majority of men being spineless when it comes to feminism, it will likely require Kennedys leaving voluntarily before anything can be fixed.

So far i found Skeleton Crew very in-offensive ...which is a step up from the last few SW D+ Seasons. But putting some kids in it won't make Kids automatically like it, and it is not automatically going to be Stranger Things. When Disney bought the franchise, they had three choices: because they OG cast was so old now, they could recast the main characters and cherry pick some of the better stories from the EU (probably wouldn't have gone over too well, especially for the Star Wars = Luke and Luke = Mark Hammil crowd) or shift the timeline to a couple of centuries beyond the time of Luke so that the original cast wouldn't have needed to appear except maybe in some sort of flashback or cameos or something (again, not something that would have gone over too well with the significant portion of the fanbase for whom Star Wars = Luke Skywalker), or set up a story where the original cast were now older and in mentorship roles passing the torch to a new generation against a new villain. They picked NONE of those choices. Instead they shredded Han and Luke, insulting and offending anyone who had ever thought of them as anything remotely heroic and tried to insist that their "new generation" was inherently better than the original for the stupidly racist and sexist reason that they either weren't white or male - and anyone who couldn't see how totally brilliant their new movies were could only dislike them because they were racist, sexist, basement-dwelling nerds. And, even now, seven years after the OBJECTIVELY BAD 'The Last Jedi" movie (yes OBJECTIVELY BAD, it completely screws up every one of it's own story arcs and morals and explicitly rejects the core Star Wars theme of heroism by stomping on every heroic act in the movie, it's the second movie in a trilogy that betrays or ignores every plot thread from the first movie and wrecks any set-up for a final movie) they're still trying to gaslight fans into thinking it was a "good movie"

@animezilla4486 I grew up on the extended universe which KK threw out and denied the existence of until the writer's mined them (but not completely) when they didn't have anything creative themselves. Chuck actively hates the source material and the fans, which is easily visible in the sloppy writing in what he created or produced. (As an aside, I read his book on writing, and it was disjointed and self-aggrandizing with no really discussion of craft.) The writer's don't have a grasp on archetypes (either Jung and Campbell's work) and story structure. They changing of canon to fit into some weak vanity or self-insert is both lazy and full of hubris.

X-wing novels had Wedge Antilles, most of the Clone Wars multimedia project had assorted Jedi from AotC and were treated better than Filoni's Clone Wars, Threepio and Artoo had a cartoon series that is memorable, Ewoks had two films and a cartoon series. Han had two trilogies and Lando had one. And the entire EU always had a way to fit in Luke, Leia and Han whilst also giving us memorable characters such as Thrawn, Pellaeon, Borsk Fey'lya, Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, Kyp Durron, Admiral Daala, Prince Isolder etc etc.

The PROBLEM with Star Wars currently is that Disney has done NOTHING but DESTROY Lucas's vision and storyline. Star Wars ended with Return Of The Jedi. Disney Star Wars is only good for filling in little bits and pieces. Like seeing the Death Star being built, how they stole the Death Star plans and seeing Obi-Wan confront Anakin/Vader after their battle on Mustafar. The only " Star Wars " that exists for me is episode 1-6. " Return Of The Jedi " gave closure. We wanted our heros, Han,Luke and Leia. Especially together. Most people want the "sequels" to be removed from what Disney calls canon. The Big thing I think you all are overlooking and should be stated is that When the original Star Wars came out in 1977 We were fresh out of the Vietnam war where we had a population of Youngings who lost their fathers to the war. George found a way to resonate with them through Luke. The success of Star Wars was Originally thought that people wanted more space stories so they created stuff like Battlestar Galatica and they even Rebooted Star Trek OG with its first Movie in 1979. But the appeal to the OG Star Wars was to the fact that it was able to speak to the young people who didn't have anyone to speak to them. We all wanted our own Obi Wan, and Star Wars was the closest some of us could get. George put it out at the right time when our Country needed it.

All I’ve heard since The Last Jedi is we gotta move on from the Skywalker saga. I’ve made the analogy that it’s the same as Batman moving on from Batman. Star Wars is Skywalker. George Lucas said Star Wars is not about spaceships, it’s about the Skywalker family.

We know what happened after ROTJ: Truce at Bakura, Shadows of Mindor, Courtship of Princess Leia, The Thrawn Trilogy, the Dark Empire Trilogy, the Jedi Academy Trilogy, the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight Quadrilogy, the Black Fleet Crisis, Hand of Thrawn Duology, Survivor's Quest, the Young Jedi Knights adventures (could be done as a tv show too!), the New Jedi Order, the Swarm War, Legacy of the Force, Fate of the Jedi (even have a Game of Thrones style series for the Lost Tribe of the Sith), Crucible, Sword of the Jedi, etc. And have stories for the OLD Republic too. But that was money left on the table that left very little room for activism. So it was discarded.

@Puzzoozoo the Young Jedi Knights YA series is too small in scale and page count to make decent films out of. You would want that as a Daredevil style series to build up the kids with the adults taking on extreme supporting roles while they remain the main heroes if the films and allow the new kids to grow into their own (and without the heroes dying 1 per film)

The problem at this point with trying to get the band from the original movies back together is the cast is all too old or dead (and Mark Hamill has made himself hated by half the country). I agree that the current staff of Lucasfilm aren't saving this but I disagree that they need to hire fans. The thing I always think when I hear that is that George Lucas wasn't a fan of Star Wars when he wrote it, because there was no Star Wars. The rest of the staff weren't fans either for the same reason. Good writers should be able to see the elements that people liked and make new stories that recapture some of it and change other parts in ways that are still good. The problem is that Star Wars has the problem of sometimes just being about Star Wars, as in more member berries and rehashes of the original trilogy's story. That's not a good place to be either, it may seem nice now when Star Wars is all about not-Star Wars, but it's not a sustainable strategy.

Boba fett the in altered clone of Django Fett is s counter point to the manipulated clone luuke which is the one we see in last Jedi and why he tried to kill Ben solo. Themed of this story would revolve around censorship of info and manipulation of emotions reflecting our own IRL social media landscape and those who appear to have been weak characters in the Disney Trilogy represent those who were more easily manipulated like those manipulated by social media narratives. Much like George used the Vietnam war as s basis for the OG trilogy and the war on terror as his basis for the prequel trilogy.

I'd even include Ashoka as s replacement for Leia to represent the ancient Egypt myth of isis the sister of Osiris on a path to resurrect Luke Skywalker with boba fett playing a similar role to annubis. Bringing mysticism of Egypt into the established star wars mythos. And I'd have David Lynch write and direct the movie in his unique way of poking fun of the disnificstion of star wars just as he did with his twin peeks return series did on showtime.

The solution: stop everything. Wait a few years. Then, create a separate Star Wars canon, inspired by the old EU, vetted by Lucas, Zahn, and/or whomever you can find that will ensure this is done properly. Gradually build that up. Bonus points: sell the entire IP to someone else and let them do that. Last resort: we wait until Lucas’ story comes into the public domain.

i’ve been a fan Star Wars since 1977 when I went and saw it with my mom and it breaks my heart to see what they’ve done to it at this point even my wife who’s a teacher who used to have her classroom full of Star Wars stuff doesn’t even put anything up anymoreit’s sad the kids knew baby Yoda for a little bit but after that no pain no anything about Star Wars it’s garbage but nobody knows a damn thing about anymore they’ve rented into the ground
