God, I remember watching this movie over and over as a kid. I personally think Al Slim is an underrated villain. His song was honestly the only one that I remember the most Plus the opening theme

Me too Isaac, and I still have the dvd. And nowadays, I can watch it on Disney plus, it’s been where I rewatched the shows and movies I haven’t seen in a long time. My favorite part of the movie was when Maggie got to stay with the others on Pearl’s farm and Slim got arrested. That was satisfying cause Slim gotten away with cattle wrestling for too long, it even cause Maggie’s old owner to sell the place and give her up to Pearl.

I have never watched this movie since I only saw the preview on The Lion King 1 1/2 dvd that I enjoyed a lot, and I only saw Home on the Range only one time on a TV airing

Personally, I think the real reason this movie failed is because it just came out at the wrong time. This movie came out during a time when 2D animation was being overshadowed by 3D animation. Speaking for myself, I always found this movie to be a fun watch. It might not be the greatest Disney film ever made...but it's still got more heart than a lot of what they're making now.

Other then "Sweating Bull-Lets", Disney at that time also tried to make a "Pied Piper" movie. However, the latter was scrapped because of the controversy around the original story, but they use that concept for Alameda Slim's character/quirk. Only instead hypnotizing rats or children & leading them to their deaths (depending on the adaptation of "The Pied Piper" ), Slim hypnotizes cows with his yodeling & illegally selling to a black market dealer.

I honestly don't see the big issues when I'm watching this movie. it's very passable to watch and has some fun character. i really like Grace and Lucky Jack myself and i didn't mind Mrs. Calloway and Maggie and i like Alameda Slim as a villain.

I agree. I really like the songs and the animation too and I even say I enjoy Buck as a neurotic horse, than Maximus from Tangled. Sure, he can be annoying jerk with a weak character development, but... at least he has one.

This movie is a guilty pleasure for me. I enjoyed when I was younger but it's not that great. It feels more like a 2d Dreamworks film than a Disney one. I can't decide what's worse though, this or Chicken Little.

Slim capturing cattle by hypnotizing them with music is silly-looking, but seems less stupid after I've seen videos of real people luring cows to them that way and heard about kulning (a scandinavian singing technique for calling and herding livestock around).

It may have flopped at the box office but still a good movie to me. It's not the best movie of Walt Disney Animation Studios but it's still pretty good. I consider it one of Disney's most underrated films. I give it 7/10.

Since this movie is the weakest of more comedic-oriented Disney movies like The Emperor's New Groove and Hercules, Raya and the Last Dragon is the weakest of other action-oriented Disney movies like Mulan, Tarzan, and even Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
