What causes pins and needles is basically when there is no blood circulation happening so if you stop blood circulation at your leg maybe you can get pins and needles you just need to get the circulation back you don't do this

You're absolutely right when it comes to blood flow but this solves compressed nerve issue and is definitely helpful.
