Now that you've had this device for a while have you experienced any heating issues with your installed hard drives? And if you were to use the eSATA feature does it see all four hard drives like the USB would? Or do you have to purchase it a separate eSATA card to be able to access all the drives? Thanks great video!
@SPMedia695 жыл бұрын
I just ordered one of these and was wondering if it came with a USB 3 cable and if it requires all 4 bays to be filled before use, which wasn’t covered in any of the documentation I’d found for it. You answered my questions. Thank you!

There is now a 3.1 Gen 2 output enclosure! How loud is the fan? I will be sitting next to my desktop, which is pretty loud itself.

i have the 8 bay version i have two 14 TB HDDs in there When i boot the case up it shows 4 spots in windows 10(Odd i have only 2) They show as USB Drive (O)-(R) But none are yet auto detected like you showed DISK management shows them as "Removable" but says "No media" There is no option to initialize these or allocate them.They are not recognized as WD drives,just as a removable drive with no other infos or way to initialize or allocate them Any advice is appreciated i thought this was plug n play The drives BTW work and read in other cases
@BobRooney2904 жыл бұрын
nice that it supports up to 16TB of drives...what happens when 20TB comes out? no support? had the same issue with the IVIEW 4 bay enclosure. After I bought it, none of my 4TB drives worked. iview support says too bad so sad, only up to 3TB is supported. I put in 1TB WD green drives, and only one is recognized. I give up. no idea what tot do.

Since it has been a year since you did this review, can you tell me if you had any issues with this device? Issues like the drives unmounting? The reason I ask is because I have been seriously thinking about buying this for myself to replace the "My Book Duo" that I have that stopped working.

Nope it’s still working perfect. Just remember it’s not a nas server. I use it for storage on a home windows computer

Synchronization comes in 3 modes: Blue When the PC is off, the device goes off in 15 seconds. Orange When the PC is off, the device goes to sleeping mode. Off Synchronization is off. I will try customer support.

Someone needs to do a fan-upgrade video for the Mediasonic 4bay. Their fans are junk, and MediaSonic uses a rare fan size and even rarer pin connector (80x80x20mm 12V 2mm-pitch 2-pin female JST PH-style connector). The factory fan will last about a year, and when they die it's a big SURPRISE when a drive (or more) overheats and dies. The only place you can get a direct replacement is Mediasonic. You have to email them, and ask them to send you a paypal invoice (ridiculous). That is unless someone is good with mods and wants to figure out a better solution.
