Ive been doing medical billing and coding for 3 years. I did a year of online school through CareerStep but did not get my coding certificate but I did graduate so it helped make my resume pretty lol. I started working from home January 2022 which was my goal! I spent two years working hard to learn the "language". I went to my local community college. Just look for a school that offers the medical coder certification. I would be careful with private or just any school online. Unless you know someone you can trust who says their certificate is accepted by employers. It will take just like 2 years. But it depends on the school you go to. In a community college, or any college, there are usually counselors who can guide you through the process. Good luck!

Do medical billers call "customers" or "patients" or do they just call insurance companies? My personality would fit more into a Medical Coder from what you explained, but it seems like you have to be a Medical Biller first ..right? I am trying to go into a different field/career where I don't have to be on the phone as much. I have been trying for the past 5 years or so to get into a "back-end" type of job that does not require me to be on the phone. For the past 13 years of my life I have been in 4 different jobs where I am basically customer service and I HATE IT!

Thank you so much for all your help you're very smart. You have such beautiful eyes, do you ever do blue or green eye shadow to make them pop. I have a younger brother with green eyes and he loves green and blue shirts and always makes his eye pop. Anyways, I have ADHD and I'm scared medical coding won't be a good fit, do you know anyone with ADHD that's a medical coder ad how they deal with it?
