Coming from a low income household, my first exposure to medicine was through KZbin. Thank you to all the KZbin physicians who make learning about medicine accessible to everyone

This video brought me to tears. I've made so many mistakes after high school and dealt with alot in my personal life that I always wanted to be a doctor but never believed I actually could but the tug on my heart never went away for it and now at 30 I no longer want to live in regret and wonder what if so I went and applied to finish up my bachelor's this week and take my pre req and begin my journey and I just pray that they give me a chance. Thank you for this video !

You don’t need anyone to give you a chance. GIVE YOURSELF A CHANCE! All others will already doubt you. If this what you truly want for your life then open your own doors in this journey because no one will. You have to make your own luck, you create your own chances. All opportunities that present themselves is because of something you did for that to happen. Give yourself a chance to believe.

while reading your comment, I had to check and make sure this comment wasn’t one that I posted myself without remembering, because our story is eerily similar. I have never felt that I would have a shot of getting into med school until very recently, and I am going to give it a shot!

2:05 "How many of you thought if you had a 3.9 and 520 that's an easy in for medical school?" is so true. Ironically, the stats that the AAMC puts out show that high stats aren't everything.

I had a 96+% in Orgo. I got extremely sick and felt that I was dying during finals week and couldn’t take the final. It dropped me to a 76%, unfortunately. It hurt me mentally because professors have this rule of “there is no excuse whatsoever and you have to take the final”. In this case, this was my Orgo and Cell Biology :(

Hey Dr.Gray. I appreciate your content and how you share all these useful videos on youtube for easy access to many of pre-meds. I am currently a fifth year, finishing pre-req classes for med school and my major classes (Psychology). I am planning to take MCAT after this summer and plan to work as a scribe for next year. I was planning on doing about 2 years of gap year to enrich my clinical experience and hours. How would med schools view 2 years of gap year that is committed for clinical experience/volunteering/ research? Would it affect their decision?

No, it wont.

Hey Dr. Gray. I am a first year pre med student currently at a community college. My plan is to receive my associate’s degree and then transfer to a four year university. I am just concerned that medical schools will look down at me going to community college for two years. Do you think I should transfer to a four year sooner? Also, I love what you do! I just discovered this channel and you provide so much good info!

Dont worry if its a 4 year or community. Just do your best to get good grades wherever you are and youll be good. Nothing wrong with community colleges

Hi Dr. Gray, what happens to an international student currently enrolled at a US college. If they could crack the MCAT and have a 3.8 GPA, is financial circumstances a barrier in the admission process?
