Thank you for the explanation. The whole process seems a lot more complicated than the usual shamatha meditation, but probably it is worth it when mastered. I just received Medicine Buddha empowerement but i still havent figured out how to practice sadhana so this will help a lot❤

Thank you for the clear visualisation. A question. When chanting the mantra how many times preferably? 4 times 28 times maybe?

Most welcome! There is no set number. Chanting mantras is focusing our speech on the sacred qualities of Medicine Buddha's speech. The more we chant, the better, of course. But, traditionally 3, 7, 21 or 108. (3 because of the Three Jewels Buddha, Dharma Sangha, etc -- as we've covered in other videos).

How would someone go about invoking Medicine Buddha for the sake of someone else’s healing. Is it the same process?
@BuddhaWeekly
@BuddhaWeekly 3 жыл бұрын
Hearing the Medicine Buddha mantra is considered helpful, according to sutra, even for animals and insects, so much more so for suffering humans. To actually engage in formal Medicine Buddha healing practices (visualizing healing light and so on) it is generally suggested by teachers to ask the permission of the patient. But, anyone can practice Medicine Buddha, it is most beneficial. The mantra is Om Bekhandze Bekhandze Maha Bekhandze Bekhandze Randza Samundgate Soha.

Perhaps a conundrum...Durham vriti nirodha neti mana neti Buddha neti neti Buddha sadhanam my crude Sanskrit may be translated as What is it like when suffering does not practice because ones practice does not suffer...answering my own question... the threshold of suffering need not be a negative force...I mentioned this to a woman friend and without hesitation she responded...I know what you mean for I'm a mother and I know what it's like to give birth to a child...I could have hugged her to within an inch of her life...because she cut through my crude intuition and arrived at true meaning...as for this online forum of Dharma Art and Teaching Well done and well received everyone Om Ah Hum...PS perhaps others may answer the question What is it like When suffering does not practice because ones practice does not suffer namaste

Gregory Ford you know.... it’s something that I’ve wondered myself, I am lucky enough to have had a great life, I’ve always had supportive parents and great friends and I have been very fortunate since I’ve never had to go through hunger and on top of it all I have decent health with no severe chronic condition. Considering all of that, I want to help all living things to stop suffering, however, how can I be effective in that since I haven’t exactly suffered and thus don’t really understand true suffering?
