In DI, the glucose is chronically drawing Na+,K+,Ca++ & water (osmotic diuresis) which leads to hypovolemic-hypotonic fluid, consequently, the interstital kidney cells will secret ALDOSTERON to reabsorb Na+ along with water (feeling thirst) to neutralize the tonicity so that the cells do not burst and to neutralize the osmolar gap. That's why ADH is low in DI . Additionally, since the kidney filtration is highly active due to hypertension , the urine will become unreabsorbable and lead to increased urine output which will lead to acute tubular necrosis during which tubular cells will slough off and block tubules which will make the urine regurgitate back to blood hence uremia.

in DI, it's true that urine osmolality will be low BUT the blood's will be high. ADH is impaired either attribute to central diabetic insipidus ( maybe pituitary adenoma) or attribute to nephrogenic diabetic insipidus ( polycystic kidney disease) or (acute tubular necrosis). Drinking more water will increase urine osmolality ( since ADH is impaired and ALDO is inhibited too) the blood will be hypovolemic hypertonic metabolic alkalosis. Thiazide will inhibit Na+/Cl- and that will decrease Na+. But sooner or later the ALDO will kick again leading to hypovolemic hypertonic and hyopkalemic hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis again ! But what if the A.ch is raiesed and parathyroid too which stimulates Ca+ into blood and excreting Na+ into urine raising its osmolality ?!
