When there is no intrinsic factor, the ileum could not absorb B12, but why? It seems the intrinsic factor was cleft before absorption, right?

Maaaan. Thanks a lot for the job you've been doing.😀 My name is Anna. I am from Ukraine. English is not my first language but i am learning it and really love to take information from english source. I am in a way of my body and nutrition exploring. Because I decided to change my diet to Vegan this year. I've been really confused after I made a blood analysis some month ago.Due to a lot of different information and recommendation that I took about deficiency and anemia that i have now. I've found your channel today, and after watching this video I understand more about B12 absorption than after reading a lot of other articles. Really love how compact and easily-understood information that you are giving is. FOllOW!!!! And appreciate a lot. KEEP going. I will continue learning with your videos.🌱

How do you know that you have vitamin B12 deficiency? Just to let you know: Vitamin B12 is normally stored in your liver for years! You wouldn't develop a deficiency in a few days or months.

happened to just pass by this comment and read this before finding this video. i dont know if it helps, but heres a link: ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminB12-Consumer/ theres also this: ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminB12-HealthProfessional/ the consumer page mentions anemia, when doing a quick google search on it a brief summary is given from the mayoclinic.org, "Anemia is a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues. Having anemia can make you feel tired and weak...". theres probably more stuff as well as stating there to be different kinds of anemia. google also shows it to be really common, approximately more than 3 million cases per year in the united states. i dont know if google shows a different answer depending on the area, it should be on the right side of the page. the consumer page from the national institutes of health dietary office of supplements states b12 to specifically prevent megaloblastic anemia. there could be other reasons for why you are tired but i figured this could help figure out what it might be exactly. hope this helps and that you find out whats occurring and if and how to solve it.

Oral B12 supplementation is the superior source.

Evidence?
@vegahimsa30575 жыл бұрын
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis I've given you a full description elsewhere under this video and suggested you look at the data and conclusions from millions of participants in Ontario studies. But for a quick education: unbound cobalamin is carried by R-binder from mouth saliva and found in the stomach. About 50% of unbound B12 is successfully absorbed by IF up to about 3 mcg in four hours in most adult humans. Only unbound B12 is absorbed by passive diffusion in significant amount (1-3%). Protein bound B12 on the other hand has a far lower absorption rate by IF and insignificant (or zilch) by passive diffusion. First, the protein must be unbound in the stomach or lower where most B12 is lost. Second, dietary protein bound B12 cannot be absorbed by passive diffusion in the intestines or anywhere in the digestive system.

@MedicosisPerfectionalis5 жыл бұрын
Yes...They can lead to vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use. I am not a doctor so I cannot give medical advice.
Myth: "animal protein is best". Absolutely false. Fact: Supplementation is best... For all of the complex reasons given in this video. Supplemental B12 is not bound to protein and thus has the highest absorption rate by Intrinsic Factor (about 50%). Oral B12 supplementation has a much higher rate of passive diffusion (over 1%, because of dose and because it's not bound to protein).

I don't think you understand what "natural" means.
@vegahimsa30575 жыл бұрын
Considering most B12 is synthesized by bacteria in a factory.. and most meat is produced in high capacity agricultural factories, and those animals are fed supplements and in virtually all ways live unnaturally, eat an unnatural diet, die and are processed unnaturally... Supplements are in fact more natural of the two options.
