This reminds me of the Russel Crowe Robin Hood movie. Take that move or leave it, one of the things I found interesting is how they showed the French ambushers, then later Robin's men looting the dead, and it wasn't just bags of gold or such, they were taking anything well made; rings, necklaces, trinkets, religious symbols anything that could fetch a value.

I like the idea that Gold for XP means you get the XP when you spend the gold on training under a master or things directly related to the pc’s class.

Finding a master can be a quest in its own right.

That's true but it tends to get overlooked. Also, it really doesn't fit with the medieval authentic paradigm.

25:38 would love a setting book for the age of the vikings.

Well, I'm pretty sure its happening. Publication probably won't be until sometime in 2025 though.

@@RPGPundit I am a Norwegian historian and one of my main fields is Norse and Anglo-Saxon history. If you need someone to run some of the historical data by, let me know. There has been some really interesting new finds that have fascinating implications on trade networks that are currently in the process of being published, for example. Really enjoyed the video!

@@UncleDwalin how much do you know about Norse activities in Pomerania or other parts of the Pagan Baltic Coast in the late 10th or early 11th centuries?
@UncleDwalin3 ай бұрын
@@RPGPundit On that specific topic I'd say I'm reasonably well informed as it pertains to trade, particularly the Danish-Norwegian hubs that connected east (Sweden, the Baltic, and beyond) to west (Frisians, HRE, England, the West-Franks, etc). I'm definitely more well versed in West-Scandinavia, and the North Sea, most of my in-depth experience with East-Scandinavia and the Baltic coming from study of the trade network connecting the Norse with the Abbasids. Could ofc chat to a colleague if I can't provide a useful answer. I also have access to Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish literature and research papers on the subject, so I'd be glad to go on a little research hunt if you're looking at a specific topic. Hope this helps!

Wouldn't an authentic medieval video have like ornamentation around the edge? And some more illuminations, you know little pictures around the edges and at the bottom. 😅

Good stuff. This could mean a ton of paperwork, but making all gems "magic gems" could make for an interesting bit. Every kind of gem has some magical attribute, so now the party has to decide if they sell the gems or keep them for future use.
@RPGPundit3 ай бұрын
Well, that's possible too, but I think its more interesting to have certain super-special stones rather than just making all gems magical.

Obtaining treasures means you don't have to work for a living. Risk your life to get said treasures? Most certainly, but you don't have to risk working for a living. :D

That's true, though its also the thing of maniacs. The risk of death is huge, compared to other activities.

Why would you make a medieval authentic setting in Poland? It has always been one of the most backwater 3rd rate countries of Europe. Definitely not a powerful country at all during the Middle Ages. If you’re going to do medieval authentic, why Poland? You’ve done England. Why not Spain or France or Germany? That’s why I personally don’t like your settings. Let’s do a medieval authentic setting you say, but let’s not do it in Western Europe or in Europe at all. I have an idea! Let’s do it in the far east. Omg. Why would I buy that?
@RPGPundit3 ай бұрын
From the time period of around the early 1400s until the early 1700s, Poland was the largest and one of the most powerful states in Europe. But the reason I focused on early Poland is because it is an excellent setting for the early medieval period. As for Sword & Caravan, the Crusades were one of the defining events of the medieval period.

It should be "authentic medieval" not "medieval authentic." You'd have to be some kind of weird quasi-spaniard to think otherwise.... 😘🤗🤐👍
@RPGPundit3 ай бұрын
"authentic medieval" would imply something actually from the medieval period. "Medieval authentic" suggests something attempting to be authentic TO the medieval period.
