Күн бұрын

In this video I go through the steps I did to craft this medieval house to use as wargaming scatter terrain in games such as: Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, Dungeons & Dragons, War Cry, Frostgrave and Mordheim.
The process when creating wargaming terrain is something I love and I am so happy with this terrain piece. For sure this will not be my last house terrain. Ideally I want to create enough to have a town of wargaming terrain.

Hello there, first of all, lovely build! I really enjoyed watching the process! I've got a question though: The "hot foam rod or whatever it's called" that you use at 8:54 ... what is it actually called? 😅 the tool looks like it doesn't have a flat tip, it nearly looks like individual pieces of "metal hair" come out, making the tip more look like a paint brush, so to speak. That's super clever to use this for the wood texture. Now I am searching the web for such a tool but I only find hot knifes, hot wire cutters, but nothing with that brushy tip that you use 😭 You got any idea how this thing is called?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 ай бұрын
I honestly don’t know what it is specifically called. I would look for a handheld foam cutter with multiple tips. Because mine came with 3: one that does horizontal cuts, one for detailed point work and then the wand part. Looked around on amazon and it does kind of look like this one. Here it is called a foam cutter pen! Hope this helps! www.amazon.com/Cutting-Electric-Polystyrene-Engraver-Styrofoam/dp/B08T979QFV/ref=sr_1_70?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.cZXiJlmxM3vKEJWNBkuTNBXP_guEl2vBIA-BP2Ogw9-rbIgqMRapPas3I658fCeAxQXP0iigm1eRFQGupkK5IxCoC9O71xuXDruW4bxwi4cTAsNm2SPu9utwxn2YpAynukSLN98EHosHN6pPW7KfnKFFOqnDNlXEd6E0pgOSpkzdYzNTwY6P2OfzbcxbY38EuBQVpYyHkDPSni3aoSL269xZbnU_0fHsmSFhqUsJKeEOpqP80RVn0gmAvcmgojWViorX6Qrnv-q1LQVdKq7gUjU4S0KeVzrs1E7-gh37uoM.0aOkiYVFWJWPbmcEhFj1WSHzYTCFvwzGesgXkPX4D1o&dib_tag=se&keywords=foam+cutter&qid=1716825420&sr=8-70

So When you make the main gables for the roof. Either draw them onto another foam board. Or make a template for that curve. And use it as a typical roof slope. For the roof portion. You can also try using a cardboard box. It will bend to the curve of the roof. Run the slots parallel with the curve. The curve will hold a more stable fashion

Man, those window boxes really sell the place! I used to be big on making my shingles the same way you did in the video, but now I usually opt to make strips with my proxxon and stagger them. Yeah, it can look repetitive if I'm not paying attention when I do it, but as long as I flip them, or cut different lengths when I'm staggering them it's pretty good! I look forward to the next video, like always! Stay Safe!
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! First one to comment on those window box planters! Thanks for that! Yeah I can imagine making strips is a bit faster but since I wanted some areas have some shingles "missing". But I might try the strips-method in future builds for sure! 👍😀

Nice build! Why didn’t you spray the roof red? You could have sprayed close to the edge and just brushed on paint at the very edge to prevent spay-over. BTW, what does Devs stand for in your name?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Mr. E! Yeah I could have but for some reason I decided to go the difficult path! Not sure tbh! Devs in my name is a short for "developer". It came originally from a word-pun since my channel in the beginning was tabletop actual plays with myself and fellow game developers, throwing well dice. I know. 👍🤣
