Montserrat, Barcelona and Catalonia beautifull places! Vic, Ripoll, Girona, Lleida Tarragona, Perpinyá... beautifull places too! If you are a medieval fan, the monastery of Poblet is amaizing. A cistercian jewel where a lot of Aragon kings and queens are buried ; )

Translation: A bright star miraculously shining on the mountain like sunshine. Hark the mass assembling, all people rejoicing, the rich and the poor, the greatest and the pettiest, are gathering as well as we are self-witnessing, let’s all herald once more this: Hail Mary

Linguists separate languages and dialects with two basic tools.: 1- a dialect is a language with an army and some tanks 2- peoples who speak close dialects are supposed to undestand themselves. So, castillan and french are languages, catalan and occitan whose were dialects from "langue d'oc" were not But catalan starts now to be one.
@lsthero5863
@lsthero5863 4 жыл бұрын
In fact catalan and occitan were different languages. The two of them are romance languages recognised and separated from the start.
@comradetortoise

I would disagree here. While few people speak Latin directly, Latin is the basis for the organization of grammar in English and many other languages. Most of the English vocabulary derives from either Latin, or Germanic languages (old Norse or old German). Latin helps massively in the learning of all romance languages, and the complexity of the grammar assists with the germanic ones. In addition, it improves grammar and vocabulary use in english and gives access to roman literature.

Cuncti ergo precantes sexus utriusque mentes nostras mundantes oremus devote virginem gloriosam matrem clementiae in coelis gratiosam sentiamus vere.

Sure thing! [Chorus] Cuncti ergo precantes sexus utriusque Mentes nostras mundantes oremus devote Virginem gloriosam matrem clementiae In coelis gratiosam sentiamus vere. If you want to be as correct as possible, be sure to remember that in Ecclesiastical Latin... "gn" (as in "magna") is pronounced as in "lasagne". (Magna = manya) "C", when before a vowel such as "i" is pronounced as "ch", (Principes = princhipes). If before a vowel like "u" or "a" it is pronounced like a "k". A "g" is pronounced as a "j"(egeni = ejeni), while a "j" is pronounced the same as an "i" (Jocundum = Yocundum). Try to keep vowels long. Monte = "montay" and oculi = "oc-yoo-lee". "A"s should always be pronounced "ah", almost like an "o", as in "Far". "Oe" is pronounced the same as an "ae". Mr. Zoltán mostly gets the pronunciation correct besides the "ng" rule, so if you listen to him you should be fine.

No lo creo, esta música está hecha para ser cantada a varias voces normalmente masculinas, aunque como toda la música medieval se puede tocar con los instrumentos que se desee y variando las voces pero manteniento la estructura monofonica (A una voz) De todas maneras hay muchas versiones de esta canción, ya que es muy famosa, pero las que más me gustan a mí son las que contienen voces femeninas.

How on earth could you mistake this for ancient Chinese or Japanese? Not only is the musical structure completely different that that of eastern music, the language is obviously Latin! And why would anyone show images iconic of Christianity while singing in Chinese? This is a wonderful performance of this fine old song. Makes me proud to be Christian. What is the string instrument that comes in around 2:44?

great version as always mr. arany Lyrics in Latin: Stella splendens in monte ut solis radium miraculis serrato exaudi populum. Translation in English: Resplendent star on the mountain like a sunbeam Miracles from Montserrat, hear the people. From all around they rally, rejoicing, Rich and poor, young and old, They assemble here to see with their own eyes, And return from it filled with grace. (Refrain) Rulers and magnates of royal stripew, The world's mighty, having obtained indulgence For their sin, they cry out and beating their breast They kneel and cry thus: Ave Maria. Prelates and barons, famous counts, All kinds of monks and yet priests, Soldiers, merchants, citizens, sailors, Burgers and fishermen are recompensed here. Peasants, ploughmen and also scribes, Advocates, stone-masons and all carpenters, Tailors and shoemakers, and weavers as well, All kinds of craftsmen rejoice here.

I do not know why people show such ignorance towards the language which we could be practically proud of naming "mother language". People are right that this song is beautiful on its own, maybe with no understanding of its lyrics, but they are stray from the beauty of the language. Honestly, people don't think that Latin is beautiful; try to sing this in English, even if translated, you shall prefer the Latin version -- there's much more spirit to one which knows what this song means.

What are you lacking that urges you to pass judgement on others and hurt their feelings? That also goes for all that have "liked" your comment. You may know the words, but definitely fall short on the spirituality that the song represents. The people who wrote this song had striven to do "God's will". That's why monks stay silent, they might speak their own will rather than Gods. I see much ignorance in your words, maybe try and stay silent next time.

However, Latin is not a "mother language" to everyone. Truthfully it has spawned and influenced many languages, but, say, someone from China can find it hard to even recognize it, and I don't think they should have such obligation. This song really shouldn't be sung in any language other than Latin, but if you want to know the meaning, there are people who translate songs. I can recognize and even understand a bit of Latin, but not many other ancient languages. Should I be so terribly ashamed?
