I've only ever been in county jail. In total 7 days. And it sucked. Yes, I was fortunate to have been in a pod with some "associates" from the outside, but yeah. We were fed, it was a constant 65 degrees, so not really uncomfortable, had clean bunks and bedding, plus cards, chess, and other forms of entertainment. We could work out, walk the pod all day, and the guards didn't mess with us. Nothing like a literal dungeon. Great video as always good sir! I don't comment on your channel enough! @@ecsuoxi damn.... That's rough. Glad you made it through. I know "jail" ain't supposed to be a breeze, but that sounds like a real good reason to keep one's nose clean. I used to watch a lot of vids on the worst prisons like black dolphin in Russia, some of those in the middle and far east, ect. It's can get bad, real quick. Then in Norway I believe they have those luxury prisons that are like apartments and such, some inmates can leave for certain times of the day and come back. sounds crazy, but the crime is a lot lower, at least on the books. Who knows? 🍻

I just found this channel via your Dinosaur channel and I am loving this video so far! I've watch it like 3:30 minute and, boy, I do like it! :D I always have been drawn to medieval and torture etc. dark stuff so this is perfect for me! However, a little request if possible to do with future videos? That woman's "singing", it's super super lovely! I love it and it sends shivers all over my body, ahah! However, it is - at times - rather loud and it's hard to hear what narrator is saying (I'm using good headphones). It almost sounds like, at times, that the woman and narrator as having a competition which one can be loudest and heard. So, yeah, lower the background singing / music for giving us better hearing experience about the history itself :) Thank you!

So let me get this straight.. (Forgive me, i am still watching, just started, hooked so far.) So the lowest prisoners can only enter through a trap door, and it was ventilated through a small screen window above... Did people just die of heart attacks from seeing all the dead or from all the bacteria and rodents and feces from them crapping them selves, again, from seeing all of the dead people because there is apparently no exit. Did bodies pile up too much, and they had to build a new section? I just started, but i have many questions as you can see. Sorry if that is answered in here.. I'll try to delete the comment if the answers are in the rest of the video. You definitely got my curiosity from the get-go. That is for sure.

i cannae be arsed to watch this vid ( figure i know enough about medieval prisons already). Essentially prison ,as we understand it today, did not exist in medieval times. Crimes would be dealt with with a fine (if you are rich ) and corporeal punishment/capital punishment otherwise. Anything too serious to be fined or maimed over ( otherwise made to feel unpleasant ) would result in your death. The exception to this is debtors prison - which is an older notion than modern prison and now that i think about it was probably where the notion to sentence people to time to pay their debt to society came from.

Answer is easy: In medieval Europe aprox. 500 A.D. to 1500 A.D., predominantly shaped by the Holy Roman Empire, there was virtually no such thing as a prison system. I do not know where you get this disinformation, but I strongly recommend reading up on actual contemporary historical sources. There were a lot of different forms of honor punishment, exile, house arrest, excommunication. Very rarely, death penalty was issued and the idea of having people incarcerated in dark towers is fantasy. We do not have historical evidence for that. For the love of god, stop mixing post medieval times (such as renaissance) with the actual medieval timeline.
