Yup. All you'd have to do is climb the tallest tree in Florida. You think you know what flat is, then you show up to Florida and the most steep hill you find is like a 2 degree incline. It almost disobeys the laws of physics. I wouldn't be surprised if some study concluded that Florida is so flat, not even the curvature of the earth applies.

@@alexander-ky9gk there is a world of difference between "hiking" and the technical climbing that is Rainier. I can do 9miles in less than 2hrs with over 3000ft of gain and loss easy. I've also climbed 14ers and done some technical climbing. At 11000ft, you only have access to less than half of oxygen as you'd regularly get. From that point on, walking takes as much effort as running on sea level. With crampons on your feet, a hard boots that's much heavier even than the heaviest hiking boots, while doing glacier traverse...going 1mph is pretty fast. Regularly folks, like you, take 2 full days to summit rainier and back, with the second day being at least 10 hours of gruesome ups and downs. Brings back memories. In '69 I lived and worked at Paradise - first job out of high school, and taught the climbing school course at Paradise that beginners were required to take before climbing to Muir, then summit next day. Did the peak in one day, as I had to be back at work down below! Part of job was carrying trash from Muir to Paradise, and we were 'competitive' - my record pack weight was 165 pounds. Once we use a rescue sled to transport a 'gumby', (as we called dead climbers - because often they were frozen into odd positions), down to Paradise. The frozen body was wrapped in an orange plastic tarp, and when we reached the dirt path above Paradise a woman tourist asked if she could sit on the sled (we were putting the wheel on at that point) for a picture. We obliged, and then she asked what we were carrying. Not sure, but I think she still is screaming and running to this day. Good times!

I have always wanted to do Rainier but didn't have time/$$ for a two day adventure but this video inspired me and two experienced friends to do the one push this past weekend! Was an absolute blast and fun to compare our fitness (which we *thought* was pretty good to yours ;). We ended up leaving Paradise at 10:30PM, summiting at 9:15AM and getting off around 3:30PM. We had some route finding issues on the way up in the morning which probably cost us an hour in total and then it was so darn hot by 10AM that hydration (needed over 6L in the heat total) problems slowed the descent considerably. Big props to you guys for making it look so easy but as a warning to those thinking about it at home, this is a serious mountain where you can get yourself into trouble very quickly. It's also a real roll of the dice with the weather/conditions, no parties summited the two days before or one after.

Great video my friend. Your commentary is awesome and the video quality, music, and cinematography are most stellar indeed. You’re on to something huge

Well, I guess you guys are still active on this channel. For some reason I assumed the channel wasn't. I'm a moron. Awesome stuff. Love your videos. Just had surgery a few weeks back and I have been watching your videos over and over again. It aggravates the crap out of my wife so thank you for that:) I started walking again today and am looking forward to pushing myself to get back into shape. Just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and that you guys are far from amateurs. 👍👍👍👍👍

I don't buy it one bit. Just the traffic alone would keep them from doing it in that amount of time.

@@swayjaayy5495 I don't find it hard to believe since many of the best speed climbers have put up near sub-3 hour ascents car to summit and since it is a common achievement among top guide on the mountain to pull sub-4 hour ascents. I mean I am no one special and I have done 3hr 55min up the DC. Check out Uli's ROUND TRIP record of 4hrs 24min. fastestknowntime.com/route/mt-rainier-wa It just makes you realize how insanely impressive human capabilities are. always makes me smile

@@swayjaayy5495 they are just really modest superathletes. they had some animal planet tv show where they were doing 100 mile runs daily a few years back. they would have ran all the way up to rainier if they could have but the snow and crevaces make it difficult

I can see that mountain from my bedroom window! It's so beautiful up there! Never reached the summit but take my kids up to play in the snow a lot. My favorite was the "poo check" before leaving 😆, we can all relate to that

Liftin Waits yes! It’s is expensive but if you work/worked at an outdoor industry or are under their discount program. That 1000 dollars worth is can now be less then 400 or even 250 because like me, I obtain gear at cost on our employee website when I use to work at a place LIKE REI. You get me?

Did you take anything for altitude sickness ? also, did you ascend/descend at the speed you did to beat the altitude sickness ? normally when u hit 10k it can start to mess with you.

Danny, Blake, Christof, Arron, Matt et al. I've been binge watching your videos this past week. You edit well, showing just the interesting bits to move your story along. Some of your ridge walk footage makes my hands and feet sweat! You have super good balance and confidence! I've been inspired by your outings and started running again to make it easier to enjoy my next hike or backpack. Thanks for all the effort and skill you put into your adventures and videos. BTW, If you do the Wonderland, choose the Eagle's Nest variation. Also, I have had good luck getting the needed campsite reservations (they hold about 30% for walk ups otherwise you have to secure your trip via a Spring lottery) by being at the reservation desk at least 30 minutes before it opens. Starting from Box Canyon and going clockwise gets the worst part done first and leaves the best for last. Thanks again!
