It's *super* risky for sure
@zaskarle6 күн бұрын
meh...it's possible to get a 2 factor fall on that and those looks to be dyneema runners. You'd probably have to be right up at a cable attachment point and have no give on the cable. But yeah I'd probably at least got for a sewn lanyard with some dynamic properties or maybe a connect adjust...but then how would you fit all those GoPro batteries into that tiny distance pack? Probably could have used some Valhalla phosphate meat at the summit to power the way down!
@elpukito5 күн бұрын
Yeah, those slings have snapped on shorter falls than one would have here. Could have just left them away entirely, I think. I have faith in Danny's climbing skills, but I hope nobody takes this as an example.

And even if the slings don't snap when falling three meters down a via ferrata cable, your spine probably will.
@BeatzarrAudios5 күн бұрын
dyneema slings take about one meter of falling to break them. if you would have slipped at pretty much any point of the via verrata you would be dead. use real protection or go without any and know your limits

If you don't fall, you don't need the kit so just don't fall. For this one I guess I would have brought the full kit as well, especially having the option to rest should be nice on something that demanding. Everything up to C I do without any kit. People with it don't want to fall, I just really really don't want to fall.

sorry - might be missing the point here but i thought the point of via ferrata was you try to use the rock and the cable is just the safety line - that is certainly the approach i've always taken. ladders are one thing, but just hauling yourself up the cable - think you might of rather missed the fun of the climb. but we all have our ways. atb

If you fall on a via ferrata with that equipment, you would not be able to upload anymore. If you are extremely lucky you will end up like a vegetable, but you will probably end up dead. In my opinion its fine if you want to do this, but by uploading it you might encourage one or more people to replicate what you do... Please take this into consideration. It would be cool if you would lead by example when it comes to safety.

You don't have gear that will ensure you live but are just injured... You have gear that can literally kill you. Falling even a short distance on dyneema slings is a terrible idea. There's a reason Via Ferrata kit exists.
@cowymtber7 күн бұрын
Ok, so would you say: If one can do Ragnarok, one could do Matterhorn? Danny?
@domesticterrorist4837 күн бұрын
No, plenty of places to fall to your death on the Matterhorn unless you have a partner and a rope with gear to set protection. Plus you need to do a few rappels and need to be stable in very exposed sections. The Matterhorn is not a via ferrata, only some few sections have fixed ropes. The ropes are 6 cm in diameter. You also need crampons and ice axe and know how to use them (last 150m to the summit).
@cowymtber6 күн бұрын
@@domesticterrorist483 Have you climbed it?
@domesticterrorist4836 күн бұрын
@@cowymtber Twice by two different routes, both decending via the Hornli. Worth doing but don't underestimate the overall effort required even though the Hornli is technically easy. Lightening is also a risk in the afternoon. Go for it, but prepare well and you will be fine.

@kevinbyrne93446 күн бұрын
Whatever about risking yourself using knotted dyneema slings, consider how you might encourage others to do the same. If you're doing that, at least point out to viewers what risk you're taking and how stupid many would consider it.

@@Blato_ I France Via Ferratas have the same rating system, F (facile) to ED (Extreme Difficile). I would rate this one as Difficile, maybe Tres Difficile, hard to judge.
