"Skills that take a time to develop" is a truism. Also is the fact that people can reap benefits just by trying. My own philosophy is that " one step at a time we can change our worlds". Let's start!!!

How do you integrate a contemplative practice with your meditative practice? Do you do them both, one after the other or do you do them at different times of the day?

I won't be suprised if this kind of question is ignored, or met with a certain degree of criticism (as these things still have a tendency to be), but when you talk about the "Three-in-One" at about 1:01:30 mark, do you suppose that what is "in here" meaning mind/ consciousness/ whatever term one might choose for it, has any causality in regards to what is "out there", meaning the surrounding world and the various ways in which we pattern it? Both in terms of neoplatonic philosophy, and 4E Cognitive Science that is also mentioned in regards to neoplatonism and various other philosophies, can the former affect the latter, given that we "center ourselves" firmly enough in relation to it?

Hello Dr. Vervaeke! I wanted to know if you could make a video reviewing hesychasm/Jesus Prayer as a meditative practice? I think it's an interesting concept especially when it gets to the idea of prayer of the heart. I want to create an ecology of practices for myself as a Christian, and was thinking of using Jesus Prayer/Lectio Divia as meditation/contemplation. I still haven't found an integrative/embodied practice, but am working on it. Also, I want to think you for your content that has played an immense role in my personal life, including my faith.

Firstly, thank you. Secondly, at @37:00 you state that you won't get into the pure consciousness event unless you meditate seriously for ten years. I'm not spiritual, and I identify as a "nones." However, I experienced a PCE a few weeks into my practice. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to resume my practice since because I'm a bit terrified of it happening again, even though it was a fantastic experience. It's confusing to me. When I try talking about it, I face a lot of doubt from others. So I have been trying to sort it out by myself since... I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I'm not sure it's true that they can't happen to complete beginners. And, maybe some warnings about PCEs should be given to newbies because they can really blindside you.

Yes there are rare cases and it sounds like you are one. I say what I say because people can get very frustrated if they don’t experience it for years which is common. May I suggest to you that you take on an embodied movement mindfulness practice such as tai chi or yoga? Embodied practices often help to integrate b powerful mindfulness experience. Perhaps also lectio divina so you begin to build a framework that bridges between non propositional and propositional processing. I would suggest doing both of these for some time before returning to your meditative practice. I hope this helps.

Might I add, and maybe someone has already pointed this out, that if like me you "suffer" with depersonalisation, be very careful about entering into mindfulness/meditative practises without speaking first to a "good" psychiatrist and or psychologist. I can't stress this enough!

I don’t really care what any particular person BELIEVES. You may believe that there is an old man with a white beard perched in the clouds, that Ultimate Reality is a young dark-blue-tinged black Indian guy, that the universe is eternal, that Mother Mary was a certifiable virgin, or that gross physical matter is the foundation of existence. The ONLY thing which really matters is your meta-ethics, not your meta-physics. Do you consider any form of non-monarchical government (such as democracy or socialism) to be beneficial? Do you unnecessarily destroy the lives of poor, innocent animals and gorge on their bloody carcasses? Do you consider homosexuality and transvestism to be moral? Do you consider feminist ideology to be righteous? If so, then you are objectively immoral and your so-called “enlightened/awakened” state is immaterial, since it does not benefit society in any way.
