The cable loops are a great idea, wish that was more of a thing 👍🏻

Thanks - my little secret is that loops are easier to manage during install than straight cables 😁

Nice clean install. Make solar conduit so wires can be easily replaced.

Combination remote off is a good idea but I'm not wild about the emergency switch location! I would have put it well away and maybe just inside the door.

@@paulgreenhalgh4790 yes fair enough. It was more of an easy “off” button for an aging customer rather than an emergency kill switch.. 😂 “in case of fire stretch your hand through the burning inferno and press this little red melted button..!” 😂 You point is duly noted! 👍

Very good explanation. A couple of comments - you may add some ventilation to Cerbo Gx box - at least some pass through as electronics can get hot. 2nd, I'd keep the data cables in their own pipes and not co-mingle them with power. I know can bus is quite resilient, but emf can still cause issues.

Yeah - I agree … BUT… there are pros and cons to your first point. . . Pros (as you stated: cooling) - but this is a small system so not a lot of work being done by the GX. Cons of ventilation… rodents and insects. Your second point is valid. It seems like UTP handles most of the data losses and the victron comms appears to handle the occasional dropout of data… appreciate the comment ! You are obviously aware of these issues. For larger systems these things would become more important!

@@benstanton thanks for your reply. To add to my first point - maybe a screen of some sort on either side - this should block out the insect/rodent problem.

Hey ben iv got two lite5/4 in parrele in the battery details on my victron system it shows total ah capacity it jumps from 194 to 100 then staying on 100 is this normal? Or what would cause this thanks.

Short answer, yes… but only when AC in is connected.

What is the standby consumption of that unit? I never find ones that are what they claim.

Yes, as martijn says the manual says 11 watts but in reality they can fluctuate between that and 20 watts for this unit.. Bear in mind that the standby current is VERY difficult to measure: a clamp meter is constantly trying to calculate the RMS amongst the sinewave mess, a hall effect sensor and even shunts (used by BMS units) are notorious for measuring harmonics and so all you are really left with is the testing done by a manufacturer OR test it yourself on a small Lithium battery by leaving it on for a few days on standby and measure the voltage change as the cells go from completely charged to around 2% SOC where the voltages "drops off the cliff"... Then divide the known w/h of the battery by time and you have "actual" standby current... but no-one is seriously going to do this for a normal install, if your design is that close to the wire you've spent too much time on design where that cost could be better spent on a slightly larger battery... 🧐
