To be a little fair, I think I know why Magneton's sprite is like that... When looking up these Pokemon on sites like Bulbapedia or Serebii, their listed sprites for Emerald will be the alternate one they added for their pseudo-animations. And since Magneton flashes yellow as part of its pseudo-animation, the site he used might have picked up and used that.

@@Jzwiz That sheltered aspect is because of his physical illness. This is addressed very shortly when you first meet him. It's a social issue, not a mental issue, and it's addressed and overcome as you progress through the game and he gets more experience despite his physical illness.

4:50 I'm currently doing a recoil move only run in Platinum, and I had a moment like that when I got to the ghost gym. It was a brick wall for me because I had a level thirty something Metang, and spent most of my time switch training my Machop to 27, neither of whom can learn a recoil move that affects ghost types. At that point, the fastest way to get past the gym leader was to train my level 3 Starly until level 37 to learn Brave Bird. At least wild Bibarels and Roselia showed up a collective 35% of the time on the route west of town.

The Gen 1 rival doesn't even teach his Pokemon any TM moves until the final battle, when he teaches a grand total of 2 (Sky Attack to Pidgeot and either Blizzard, Fire Blast, or Mega Drain to the starter). Of course, this is because Red and Blue almost exclusively uses level up learnsets outside of gym leaders, the Elite Four, and the champion all having one TM move on their final Pokemon, with the aforementioned exception of the champion getting the second and also Lance erroneously having a Dragonite with Barrier when it almost certainly should have been Reflect. Yellow mixed it up a bit and gave far more custom movesets to most of the Pokemon of those same trainers, and also a single Bug Catcher and a single Youngster on Route 9 whose Sandshrew is granted Fissure, I think as an anime reference or something.

Here is an idea “Can I beat Pokemon Red with only ‘Blast Boom Destruct and Bomb’ like Moves! If you start with Voltorb you get Sonic Boom at level 17 making it possible from the start of the game. Plus in Gen 1 it hits Ghosts for some reason. It would be funny and stupid and interesting! Would love to see a video of it. Moves you could use: Explosion, Self Destruct, Fire Blast, Egg Bomb, Sonic Boom, Spike Cannon, Pin Missile, and Smoke Screen. Every Gen 1 move related to explosions!

To add to this: _all_ of those moves must be used. I think the smallest team possible would be five members: Weezing (explosion, SD, smokescreen, and fire blast), Electrode for sonicboom and can also have explosion and SD, Exeggutor or Chansey for Egg Bomb, Cloyster or Omastar for spike cannon, and either Beedrill or Jolteon for Pin Missile. Exeggutor and Cloyster can both learn Explosion and SD by TM, so they'd probably be better choices than Chansey and Omastar respectively.

I have to stop myself from running one in basically every casual run where it's an option. Steel typing as well means between its resistances and solid defense stat, it can take hits decently too, even though its HP isn't the best. It's a great all-rounder that feels under-appretiated IMO. Maybe it's just its movepool, but STAB thunderbolts feel like all it ever needs.

Assist is one of those hail mary moves that you can use. It saved me a few times in some regular runs, I recommend next time you have the move assist available to you, you consider it more. Might not have worked for this run too much, but if you know all the moves available to you, it can come in clutch. Especially status moves!

Using rare candies in place of grinding is definitely the move, the grinding doesn't do anything but make the run slower for you. Using the candies to get to whatever level you would've grinded too anyway just saves you some time and helps sanity lol

Wally's RSE team has so much wasted potential; I'm really glad they fixed that in the remakes. ORAS significantly buffed his team, and his battle theme is one of the best in the whole series. Wally is my all time favorite rival, and seeing the frail boy in Petalburg grow into the strong young man who stands before you in Victory Road is really moving in a way.

It would be nice to see you try to do things capped at the level that Wally would have at that part of the game. Like, level up for the Elite 4, that’s fine. But, when you are having a mirror match with Wally, and your Magneton is like 9 levels higher, it kind of seems unfair, especially if you are going to poke at Wally for such a great team when you aren’t even trying to make it happen at the level that he got there with.

With Tate and Liza I felt your pain. My buddy was running Sceptile, Lombre, Torkoal, Swellow, and two others I can't remember (this was quite a while ago) and wanted me to get him past Winona. I did. He then asked me to get him to Ever Grande (after Gym 8 of course.) I said I would. Tate and Liza WRECKED his team every single time. After getting them ALL to insane levels (Team Magma Hideout was best training place I had left) and STILL getting destroyed I practically begged him to let me change ONE member of his team. He asked what for what. I said Lombre for Sharpedo. He agreed. Five minutes later I swept the gym with no trouble whatsoever.

Doing this in the remakes would be interesting since even if you ignore the Battle Mason battle, he still has a postgame battle in ORAS where his Roserade and Mangeton evolve, but even if you still go with his Victory Road team, would be interesting to see how Gallade does against GARDEVIOR (especially since Wally’s can mega evolve even before post game, so could be fun to use a mega since Wally uses it)

Interesting, challenge it was fun to watch :) Pokémon Challenge suggestion: You are free to go with the game of your choice, but the challenges is using only middle evolution stage pokémon. (For Exemple: If you pick Bulbasaur as your starter, you can only battle with Ivysaur.) You are not allowed to use pokémon who's has no evolution or only 1, it must be a pokémon with a 2 stage linear Evolution. So pokémon like Eevee or Tyrogue are not allowed, but pokémon like Oddish, Poliwag or Ralts are allowed. Try number: 9

Here's a strange run idea: Any gen, any team, but only one move per pokemon. -Move choice can change, but only when learning a new move, and can only be swapped to the new move or keep the old move. This means you aren't stuck with Tackle the entire game lol Each mon can either stick with the move they have or switch to the move they are currently learning, and the decision must be locked in at that time. -Catching more than 6 pokemon is fine. Having spares in the box to swap between is fair. -No limit on how many mons can be caught per route/area, but each mon can only be caught once. No catching multiples to change move choice. -Optional: Each pokemon holds a Choice-type item of your choosing. Can be swapped freely. -Optional: Only in generations where TMs are limited-use, TMs can be used at any time to swap to a new move, but only once per mon. No buying multiple TMs and swapping the same mon's move several times between battles.

Oh... now I know why I've never found a Roselia in the wild in Emerald growing up. And it makes me happy to see Magneton being awesome. That little guy is surprisingly amazing. Used one on my team in Sun on a whim and it was with me to the Champion battle. Magnet Man the Magnezone is awesome.

It would be interesting to see an Assist only run where you have to balance the number of Pokemon using Assist and other party Pokemon that assist uses the moves of.

Im currently doing an Emerald playthrough with single stage pokemon, to use pokemon i haven't before. I decided I'd take advantage of Plusle and Minuns ability, especially with how many double battles there are in Emerald, and was actually looking forward to Tate and Liza, thinking i was going to sweep with Thunder... Until they sent out Claydol which I'd completely forgotten about 😅 Which is a shame because when Plusle and Minun are together, they are actual menaces, and have joined my list of favourites

If you wanna do spin offs, give Pokemon conquesr on NDS a shot! This game is super fun and back then I was obsessed with that game. And if you love it, you can even do challenges with that game too!

Try attempting this in Platinum. You can start with Skitty as it's only available in the post game, catch a Budew and then evolve it into Roselia before Roark and Ralts fully evolves into either Gallade or Gardevoir and Wally uses both depending on the games he appears in.

any team battle becomes extremely easy when you dont turn your battle settings to set... when your on switch not only do you get a free switch it tells you what they are going to send out so you get a free optimal switch that they wont switch to improve their matchup always play on set

I have an idea for a fun challenge, One that means you could even use Drowzee. Can you beat Pokemon Black (Or any game from gen's 5 ,6 or 7) with only the move Assist? Purrloin learns Assist at level 6 so it'd be the starter, Then if you get a male Purrloin you can breed it with other's to get more Pokemon. I think this would be a great wacky challenge since the more Pokemon on your team the more random the move is. For any that don't know Assist uses a random move known by any of the user's party Pokémon, With some exceptions. So even Pokemon that can't use Assist would still be useful if they have good moves that Assist can use. Drowzee is in the Human-Like Egg Group so If you want one with Assist you'd need a Spinda since they're in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so can breed with Purrloin and Drowzee. You could also use a Chimchar as a starter if you give it Assist as an Egg Move, They're also in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so a male one can breed the move into any Pokemon with Assist.

I don't think Tentacool's Surf was allowed since it's Delcatty using a move from a Non-Wally Pokémon but it doesn't matter since Steven used Full Restore after anyway. After this you probably have more respect for Wally's team now.

I was actually interested since I've always loved Altaria and Gardevoir. I don't know how much I can remain, if it's somehow not worth remembering that Wally is a sick kid. And (almost) every game can have pretty dumb AI.

Gardevoir was nerfed when they added the Fairy type to the line... that had 2 extra weaknesses the old Gardevoir didn't have. :(

Except it's quite literally the opposite. Yeah Fairy may be weak to Poison and Steel, but it also resists both Dark and Bug, which cancels out Psychic's weakness to those types thus Garde ends up with the same number of weaknesses it previously had; in turn, it became an even better answer to Fighting types with its new double resistance to the type, it can switch in for free on any Dragon move, it gained a new great STAB to smack most pokemon neutrally with - which lessened its eternal problem of not having a lot of coverage coverage - and the same new STAB allows it to beat the crap out of Dragon and Dark types, the latter being an almost full 180 compared to how it previously had to either run away from or pray that Focus Miss landed. Fairy is so good that literally every old pokemon that gained the type in gen 6 just became better (except Wigglytuff in competitive, but that's Wigglytuff in competitive).

@@darkfiredragon3410 I feel the opposite because I always have it to the front to get rid of Poison types and then....... onew Sludge Wave later... IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE! ...and it's dead. Whereas Psychic only would've most likely have survived it. It's a brain thing. I can't NEVER remember what are the the typing Fairy is good or bad against.
